I cannot say that the other spellings did not refer to my ancesters as I cannot go back farther than 4 generations on my Kennedy side.I have found that the early census takers weren't always careful in their spelling, many used nick names for first names and spelled surnames like they sounded.Kennedy with two n's has been my family's spelling for four generations.
