Hi Karen, I have not done any original research on the Demaree line, but I have found a lot of reference to them as I have been researching my conection to the Banta line. The Demaree , Banta, Ryker (or Riker), and Demott lines are all old Dutch families who settled in Schrallenburg, Bergen Co, NJ. Bergen Co is just across the river from New Amsterdam (New York City); however, I have not been able to locate Schrallenburg. It appears that these lines were in the area long before 1700. Many members of these families migrated Kentucky and were part of the "Low Dutch Colony" in Shelby and Henry Counties in KY. They later went to Jefferson and Switzerland Co, IN before moving to SW Missouri. My connection to these folks is through Nancy (Agnes) Banta b. 1806 who married James W. Dodd b. 1802. They married in Switzerland Co, IN 16 October 1824. They moved to Polk Co before 1845.
