I will be visiting Polk Co in the next few weeks. Are there any particular places that are good for genealogical research - a local library, an historical society, the courthouse? I am particularly interested in researching the names Haralson and Campbell in the area. Any advice would be appreciated. R Ellis Austin, TX

Start at the Polk County Genealogical Society ,they are on the Southeast corner of the square in the basement. They are the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! J.R.Smith

The library in Bolivar has a lot of good information. The genealogical society also has a library on the square. If you have a chance you should also try to make it to Springfield. The Springfield-Greene County library has a big genealogy section. Then there is the Ozarks Genealogical Society library (the Greene County genealogical society for the most part). If you need addresses or directions, please let me know.
