According to the plat map of Polk County 1903, Jefferson Township (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~judysstuff/polk/09.gif), in the NE corner of section 20, Twp 35, Range 23, in the 320 acre plot of land listed as belonging to G.W. Skidmore, there are two buildings. The first is adjacent to the road, while the second is about a 1/2 mile south of the road. I looked at the aerial maps of this place on TerraServer (http://terraserver-usa.com/default.aspx). Currently there is a farmhouse just south off the road (now East 330th road, east of Hwy O/South 70th Road and west of South 85th Road), but the second structure to the south looks like it could be an abandoned house/barn/I don't know what. If anyone can tell me what this building is/was, I would be very interested as this property did belong to my ancestors about 100-150 years ago. For you GPS buffs, the mysterious building is at- Decimal Latitude: 37.7783, Longitude: -93.4870 Deg/Min/Sec Latitude: 37N 46' 41.88", Longitude: 93W 29' 13.19" 2.2 miles (as the crow flies) from Rondo, bearing 291.9 degrees. As a follow up question, when did the railroad running from Flemington to Bolivar quit running? Thanks for any help on this oddball query! Chris Swingle
