Hi again Elvin, How funny. My Dad married Mary Jane Payne and they went to South Carolina while Dad was in the Air Force, then on to Chicago for Technical College and then to California, where he worked for Lockheed for over 30 years, and I was born in 1962. Dad and Mom are there in Polk County now. They retired there about 15 years ago and love it. They are on the old Payne place where my Mom grew up, just north of Polk town. Actually, if you know where the Payne cemetery is, they are the first house on the road to it. I get out there a couple of times a year and will probably be going right after Christmas. My brother and his family will be there. Their number there is 417-254-4755. I know Wilma Kaylor. Mom organized a small Elliott reunion several years back and we were able to meet and share information. I had heard that she was not well..it was sad to hear. If you do need any information on the Elliott family, I would be happy to give it. Just let me know... Good to hear from you! Hi Susan, It was good to hear from you! In 1942-43, I and a brother and a sister, walked part way to and from school with your dad, and Bernice. At the time we lived about a half mile east of them. We would meet them along the road every day, and continue on to school. We moved into Bolivar in Feb 1943, in the middle of my 2nd grade. After moving to Bolivar, I spent a week every summer with my sister, Mildred Wilson, who lived about a mile north of Wayne. Wayne and I always spent some time together while I was there, went swimming in the creek etc. I have not heard anything about Wayne, for years. Since the Elliotts are not my main line, I haven't followed them too far back. My wife and I take care of the Pettet reunion, that we have at Bolivar every August. In case you didn't know, a daughter of Curtis Elliott, Wilma Kaylor, is very bad with Alzheimers, and in a nursing home in New Mexico. Wilma and Marvin Kaylor always came back for the reunion every year, until a year ago when she became too bad. This year, their daughter Susan Kaylor from California, was able to come though. Thanks again for your email! Hi Elvin, I am Thurman Elliott's grandaughter, and the daughter of Wayne Elliott. I am not sure how much information Ken has, but I have been working on the Elliotts for quite some time and as I suppose you saw in my eariler post, have discovered quite a lot about the younger Elliott, George. I am also in contact with a descendent of the eldest daughter, Lucinda, who lives up in Macks Creek, MO. I recently lost all my files in a computer mishap, but still have all the information, and my goal for the upcoming year is to redo it so that I can send info to all the aunts, cousins, etc. who have been requesting it. My parents also have many old Elliott and Gallivan photographs, some of which I have scanned and have on my computer. Most date back to 1880-1900. I have also worked on the Gallivan line a bit and have sorted out a mystery or 2 involving a couple of the photos. Please feel free to contact me anytime. Hi Ken, Would you please send me an invitation to your family tree also? I wasn't watching this thread very closely, thinking it had no relevance for me, until I noticed the mention of Laton Elliott in the below post. My aunt married the younger Laton Elliott's son, Curtis Elliott in 1922. I may not have anything to add, or see anything new, but would like to check it out! I also lived just across a field from Thurman Elliott, in the 1930s, and attended a country school with his kids. Thanks! Elvin Pettet Could you also send me an invite to your family tree webpage? If you remember, I am descended from Laton Elliott as well and we had a chance to meet when I was visiting my parents in Polk County several years ago. I have a LOT of new information about Frank and Lawson's brother George, and pictures of Lucinda and her descendents.

This has been a huge dead end for me. Mary Elizabeth shows up in the 1860 Nebraska Census with my GG Grandfather Thomas J. (then 9-10 years old). She had no husband at the time (living with the Jesse Reeves family) and the census lists Thomas J.'s father as being born in France. Anything you can share would be most appreciated. Thank you so much. Reed Bennett married Sarah Stowe in 1838 in Polk County. They had several children and I found her in the 1850 census living with her children in Laclede County with her brother. In 1848 the Springfield paper published the info that Reed Bennett and his brother, Oliver HP were the trustees of their father's(Thomas Bennett) estate. I would like to know what happened to Reed and if his father lived in Polk county. The mother of Reed and Oliver is Nancy North. Her and Thomas were married in 1817 at the Livesay Plantation in Oneida, NY. If there is any info about this family, I would appreciate it if you would share. These Bennett's are directly related to the people that settled Brice, Mo. and later named Bennett Springs. Thanks for reading and have a nice holiday season, Betty Keith ----- Original Message ----- From: <thomashvandiver@bellsouth.net> To: <mopolk@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, December 13, 2007 11:20 AM Subject: Re: [MOPOLK] Polk County History > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Carolyn Caplinger" <cmcaplinger@yahoo.com> > To: <mopolk@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Wednesday, December 12, 2007 4:58 PM > Subject: Re: [MOPOLK] Polk County History > > >>I have the book.
