Author: lrtyndall Surnames: Akins Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.polk/2670/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Does anyone know if this Akins family is connected to the Akins in Polk county? I've got a Jonathan Akins, born in TN, m. Clarinda Josephine Harris in 1870 in KS, living in Dade county, MO in 1880. Their daughter Lillie Bell married Thomas McClelland Tyndall, son of Daniel F. and Mary C. Tindall. (Yes, they each apparently preferred to spell it differently.) I don't have a definite birth or death date for Jonathan Akins. A book on Dade county families has dob as 1826, his marriage record would make it 1835, 1870 census puts it in 1833, and the 1880 census would be 1826 again. I'm leaning toward the earlier date because it's repeated, and also he was marrying a 15 or 16 year old girl and may have wanted to seem younger. I'm also wondering if the Tindalls and Tindles may be connected way back. Any ideas would be appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Ellen, There are eight page references in the index. There are no actual Ball biographies so they must intertwined in other family biographies. Page 32 Under Morrisville history, there is a reference to a J. F. Ball. He was a charter member of the Pleasant Lodge No. 160 A. F & A. M. organized in October 1866 at West Bend and later moved into Morrisville. Page 41 Picture of Fender Chapel Sunday School 1918 or 1919. There is a Lucy Ball in the picture. He was pastor during their centennial celebration in 1982. Page 151 Calloway biography: Florine Ball listed as marrying Ramon Callaway in 1935. Sorry I'm behind on responding. There is no Callison or Bonnett families mentioned in the book. An Alfred Emory is listed in a biography on James and Mary (Barnes) Cloyed as marrying a Hattie Naomi Thomas, apparently their great granddaughter. Let me know if you need more details. There is a picture of the Jesse Russell Payne Sr. family. One of the children is listed as Nancy (Payne) Emory, although in the biography it does not give any marital information on her. It does give her name as Nancy Catherine 1879 (assume birth date). Hope this helps. She was the daughter of Robert Eaton Acock and Mary Blanchett. She was born in North Carolina (probably Warren Co) and married Stephen Talkington on Mar 29, 1807 in Christian Co, KY. They moved to Arkansas in 1826 where they bought land in Hempstead Co. In later years they moved to north to Washington Co near Fayetteville. At the end of their lives they lived in Van Buren, Crawford Co. Stephen died in 1860 of typhoid fever and is said to have been one of the first people to be buried in the Fairview Cemetery there, although I was not able to find his (or her) gravestones. I don't know much about the Acock family so would be delighted to have any information you would be willing to share. I am particularly intereste din the Polk Co, MO connection as so many branches of my family ended up there in the mid-1800s.
