Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HMB.2ACE/1216.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi there again, These are the same counties my family is from. Gosh I did lots of work for this on paper and my grandma still alive lives in Missouri. So when I got all the cemeteries and places for them to check out. The did a trip and got lots of information. I think I would of loved to have been able to do the footwork. She got to meet lots of people on the way. And learned alot too. I started doing our genealogy because my grandma she can't see out her eyes very good. So I would get info from her and then go from there. It has blossomed for like 3 years or so now. My great grandpa was born in Hickory Co. Mo. and then lived in Flemington, and Humansville MO. They then moved to Los Angeles in the early 1900's. I would of loved to of seen LA back then. Can't even image it that way now. Her sister was a good one and wrote lots of notes growing up. Makes you think of it is a most to keep track of some of those neat things of growing up. My grandma and her daughter took the trip to Dallas CO. the summer of 2002. Hope you find what you are looking for. Happy Trails....... Shawn Cantrell

    3. Hi cousin, we're related but apparently you know more than I do. I am from the Lawson side. However, I didn't have anything more than Ev as her name. I have as his name Humprey "Dump" not Umphrey, any idea which would be correct. I think this came from my mom's files before she died. She wasn't very good at documenting her sources. This year there will be a special Librarian's Pre-Conference at NGS GENTECH Thursday, January 22, 2004. 1. [MOPOLK] You know you are a family historian when..
    2. Lanita Miller
    3. I'm feeling a little silly today since it's my birthday, and decided to see if I could come up with a list where you can spot fellow family historians, or recognize yourself as one. You know you are a family historian when..... By Lanita Sconce Miller 10. You start out each email.... HI COUSIN.. 9. You have memorized the email addresses of people you’ve never met, but continue to have to check your address book for close family members. 8. Upon being introduced to one whose last name is a familiar surname, you ask them... “Are you connected to the _________ family who were from ________?” 7. You mention ancestors at every family gathering. 6. You think the roll of the eyes from other members at that same family gathering only means that they have a serious hereditary eye disease. 5. The 1890 census continues to be on your yearly Christmas List. 4. A “good” vacation means several stops at different courthouses as well as the cemeteries and finding great great grandma’s answer to a brick wall. 3. A great birthday gift is a subscription to a genealogical website or magazine. 2. You have more pictures of tombstones than living people. AND THE NUMBER 1 WAY TO KNOW IS............... 1. You find yourself going to other people’s family reunions in hopes that you will find SOMEONE who knows SOMETHING about great great great grandma Matilda. Happy Hunting, Lanita Families are like fudge. Mostly sweet with a few nuts!
