I had not thought of looking for Hugh {Hue} and Eleanor in Jasper County, although Hugh would have had some relationships located there, so I have done some research in that county. Some cousins were living in Jasper County, interesting. Do you happened to be any relation of the Chandlers who lived in Ash Grove? A Georgiann {sp} Smith married a Triece Chandler and lived in Ash Grove, they are also related to my Smith family. Thank You very much again for a possibility. Judy Smith/Colorado

I have an idea my Smith's also came out of North Carolina, but no proof yet. I just have traced them to 1782 Washington Co., Virginia. I shall look up the Barren County, Ky 1810 census. Do you have any idea what happened to Hugh and Eleanor{Elender/Nellie} Johnston Smith after 1850 Polk County, Mo? It is like they disappeared off the earth. In the 1880 Arkansas there is a Hugh and Eleanor Smith, with a daugher Eleanor, age 13, born Missouri. I have no proof this is my Hugh or our Eleanor/Nellie {Johnston} Smith. Hugh and Eleanor had a son James, born in 1848 Polk Co., MO, I have no idea if they had other children or where they were living. The above Hugh Smith was born abt 1820 in Mercer County, Ky; son of James and Prudence {McGee} Smith, was listed as an orphan in the fall of 1827, with my James H.M. Smith of Brighton, Looney Township, as his guardian, and eldest brother. They first lived in Howard, then Monroe or Ralls County, Mo, then in 1832 -! 1835 moved south to Greene/Polk County. Please keep me in mind if you ever find a clue to the above Hugh and Eleanor {johnston} Smith. Thank You. Judy Smith/Colorado

I can see right now that we may have to break down and get that set of $100 cemetery books for Polk Co. Is CAVIN Cemetery the same as BURDETT-CAVIN Cemtery? It is, isn't it?? Thanks for any help! 3. Joseph Cavin did not come to Polk County until after 1830. From my notes it looks like Polly died in TN. I don't know who gave those to me I am afraid, so I can't refer you to anyone. I will check with one person though and see. Linda Crawford
