The following web address will take you to all the Stokes Info that was researched by family connections. I don't have any other info. I didn't do the research but took all the notes and put them into a family tree program. Maybe this will help someone find a connection to their allied families. Hi, I'm researching the HASH, EDWARDS, WHITE, and CARTER lines. My grandparents were Thomas Fielding Hash and Cinderella May Edwards. He was at one time a mail carrier in Bolivar. Her parents were William EDWARDS and Jane Isabelle WHITE. The WHITE line is the one I'm interested in at the moment. Jane's father was William WHITE and her mother was Chloe Ann STURDEVANT. They are listed on the 1880 census as living with Jane and her family but their names have a line drawn through them as if they've been crossed off and something was written in the margin, but I can't make out what it says. I haven't found their names in any cemetery records for Polk County and wondered if anyone can tell me what might have been in the margin and what might have happened to them. In addition to Jane, William and Chloe had sons George W., and Martin L., as well as daughter Susan E., who married Michael LOWER. George W. died in 1897 apparently unmarried I found his name in the Civil War Pensi! on Index. I found a Martin L. WHITE listed in the Civil War Service Records Index, same Regiment as George but a different company. He does not appear on any census record for 1870 so I think he must have died during the civil war. Perhaps some of Susan and Michael LOWER'S descendants have an idea as to what happened to William and Chloe WHITE. Any information is appreciated Thank you, Andrea Eaton
I am doing research on Rebecca Russell, Mooney, Harper. She was born in 1823 in KY. I cannot prove her parents name at this time. On Dec. 29, 1842 in Polk Co MO she married John B. Mooney and they owned land just northwest of Pleasant Hope. John B. was the son of John Mooney for whom Mooney Township in southeast Polk County was named. John B. and Rebecca had Thomas B. in 1846 and Milly Ann in 1847. John B. died in 1848, death and burial places are unknown. About a year later Rebecca married James Riley Harper Sr of Dallas Co MO . They had James Riley Jr, William Larkin, Sarah Jane and John Hayden. Rebecca died 14 June 1872 and is buried in the Fowler-Hurst Cemetery at Mill Creek in northeast Dallas Co. James Sr was the brother of Rachel Harper Fowler also buried at the cemetery. James Riley Harper then married Mary J. Murphy and they moved to TX. Rachel Harper Fowler was my third great grandmother. Thomas B. Mooney died in 1861. I do not not the burial place of either Thomas or Milly. Milly Ann Mooney married James W. Martin about 1865. They had two sons George T and William R. Milly died Nov. 20 1872. James' parents were G. W and M. E. Martin. George and William were with their Martin grandparents on the 1880 Dallas Co. census. Does anyone have information on any of the above mentioned? I am interested in Mooney Township history and each of the above names except for Mooney are found in my family tree as blood kin. I would appreciate any help. Linda Fowler Crawford

John Austin of 1850 Greene County, Census (#454/454 - Robinson (sic) Township) names the family as: AUSTIN, John 45, b. NC , Eliza 24, b. NC , Cenith 13 b. NC , Elizabeth 1 b. Mo. WILLIAMS, Margarette 11 b. Mo. CENITH AUSTIN was the daughter of JOHN AUSTIN, listed above, and his wife RACHEL. CENITH married first ANDREW JACKSON BASS, JR., as his second wife, on 9 February 1859. He died on November 29, 1859. She married second in September 1870 to Absolem Christfield Austin (of Dallas County). He died 2 June 1872. She married third 22 December 1874 to Patrick Hanophan/Hanifan, and she is buried at Bass Chapel Cemetery at Bassville, Greene County. My question is concerning the 24 year old Eliza in this 1850 household of JOHN AUSTIN. She appears to be a second wife (albeit that she is 21 years his junior), since there is an 11 year old MARGARET WILLIAMS in the household. I suspicion she is his wife, since a JOHN AUSTIN married a LOUISA WILLIAMS in Greene County on September 14, 1848. If so, then is this 11 year old MARGARETTE WILLIAMS in the 1850 household her daughter by a previous marriage to _____ WILLIAMS. I do not find a marriage for a LOUISA or ELIZA to a WILLIAMS in Greene County before 1839, but I do find a marriage of a LEVI A. WILLIAMS to ELIZABETH FENLEY, 30 June 1836 in Polk County - Book A, by Jesse Mitchell, ME South. Can anyone advise if this is the 24 year old ELIZA in the 1850 household of JOHN AUSTIN? If not, then can anyone answer what was the maiden surname of ELIZA, if she is indeed his wife. I have data concerning the probate of Rachel Austin, and (going from memory), I believe Ceneth is the only descendant listed, so it does not appear that ELIZA is an older sister to CENETH. Would appreciate any help. Thanks, [email protected]
