Wood b: 11 Oct 1866 d: 19 Jun 1939. He married Lucy S. Allee. The children I know that they had were Esther, Hubert, and Mabel K. My Joseph R. was the son of John Wood and Anna ?. John had 8 children: Edward (My great grandfather), John R., Joseph R., James R., Nancy Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary, and Willie Leah. These folks all settled around Worth County, MO. An obituary states that my great grandfather Edward was born in "George County, Kentucky", which, given his birth on, 23 Dec 1849, I believe to be "King George County, Virginia." My branch of the family, Jerry Wood, the son of Edward, settled around Fowler, Manzanola, Rocky Ford, and La Junta, Colorado. Here is the obituary of my great grandfather, Edward. Obituary from collection of Rev. Challie E. Graham, compliments of Bud Allee. bwfarms@grm.net. Edward Wood son of John and Anna Wood, was born in George County Kentucky, Dec 23, 1849 and departed this life March 11, 1924 at Rocky Ford Colo, aged 74 years 2 months and 18 days. He was of a family of eight children, four sister and three brothers, two of whom survive him, Mrs Nancy Wall of Grant City Mo., and J R Wood of Isadora, Mo. On July 4, 1883 he was united in marriage to Jane Simmons at Grant City, Mo. To this union six children were born, namely; Mrs C E Gladman of Sheridan Mo; Mrs C E Tarlton, of Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs W A Lemon of Sheridan, Mo; Mrs G W Allee of Sheridan, Mo; and Jerry Wood of Rocky Ford, Colo, all of whom survive him. One child Hartley Wood died in infancy. The deceased leaves his wife who lives with her son in Rocky Ford, Colo, his brother and sister and children as named; also seventeen grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his departure. Mr Wood was a resident of Worth County, Mo for a number of years before moving to Colo. and was known as an industrial man and an honorable citizen. His memory will last as a kind husband and loving father. A very large crowd of friends and old neighbors showed their respect for him by their attendance upon the funeral services, which were conducted from the Church of Christ Sunday afternoon, March 16, 1924 by Challie E Graham, after which the remains were interred in the Isadora cemetery. The many friends unite in extending their sympathy to the bereaved ones. If this isn't a part of your direct family, perhaps it is a branch. Hope this helps.
