A.R. Demasters, three miles west of Platte City, Feb 20 1908, Mrs Lucinda Turner. With this good mother in Israel passes away another of the pioneers of Platte County. Miss Lucinda Muir was born in Madison CO. Kentucky August 17 1824. She came with her parents to Callaway Co, Mssouri, where she married John Basket. Mr Basket dying Nov 11 1846., she married a second time, her brother in law, Graham Turner, of Platte Co. Missouri., March 29 1856. Mr Turner had come with the first settlers to Platte CO in 1839, and when his wife died he returned to Callaway Co and married his wifes sister. On the fine farm a few miles north of Farley, they reared their family. There were six children of the first wife,: John who died Jan 17 1908, George of Boulder, Colorado, and Robert of Fulton , Missouri, Mrs Susan B. Lynes of Callaway Co., Mrs Mary Hon and Mrs Frankie Farley of Platte Co. To Graham and Lucinda Turne! r were born three daughters, Mrs.Annie Keller of Leavonworth, Kansas, Mrs A.R Demasters of Platte City and Mrs Ida Schlater of Farley. To Mrs. Turner fell the task of raising her sisters and her own children, a duty she performed with faithfulness. On January 3, 1880, her husband passed away to his reward, leaving a fine farm of 320 acres of rich Platte Co. land to his widow and children. After services at the home of her daughter, Mrs A.R.Demasters, by Elder Louis Cupp of Kansas City, the remains were interred Feb 21 1908 in the cemetery in Platte City.
