Across the highway from the property are railroad tracks. I have been told that there is an article about the old stone barn/distellery n the "Platte County Place, Fall 1984 Issue" but I don't have this magazine. It was built by slave labor around 1851and completed about 1870. A George DUNCAN was said to have planned to used the three story building on the creek for a distellery but because of the Civil War, it was never used. After his death, descendants used the first floor for a stable. For some reason, it seems like her name was Judith or Julia. A later owner or descendant was named ODE or McQHIRT (unsure of the spellings). Perhaps, this will help you with your seach. Sorry that i don't have further information, I am attempting to research this old stone barn or distellery. It is a beautiful site. It is cur! rently owned by a private citizen who has built their name there. Feel free to contact me directly. Joyce Willhoit, Kansas City, MO
