I have now determined, with some certainty, that Susan Jane, the wife of William James Wood of Weston, Platte Co., MO in 1880, was the daughter of Dixon Stillwell and his wife Susan. I have no further information on the ancestors of William James Wood, and no known connection to the William a/k/a WIlliamson Simmons family. One lead that might help - William Simmons of Platte Co. is listed as William Summons in the 1850 MO census. There are several other Summons families in the 1850 census, who appear to be listed as Simmons in later census, including an Elizabeth Jane Summons, age 8, living with the family of William Dakan (sp?), shown at p421 of the Platte Co. census, dwelling #423, family #414.
