Thanks Chuck for posting the information from Paxton on the family of John Ramey. I am his descendant through his daughter Susan Ramey Wren, then down through Edwin Otis Wren, then his daughter, Lillie, who married Davis Ramey. Davis is my great-grandfather. I have additional information on this family if others are interested. For unknown reasons, Susan Ramey Wren left her husband in Kentucky, and moved to Platte County where her parents and siblings were already living. She was not a widow as Paxton says. Hugh Wren appears in the Montgomery County, KY, censuses while his wife was in the Platte County censuses. Rick Ramey Forest, Virginia

Rick, I knew this all sounded familiar but I lose track. I guess Paxton would only know what he was told in this case. He says she came "after" her father but not exactly when. I see your Hugh Wren as late as 1860 in KY. He is listed as Hugh B. in the 1830, 1840 and 1860 but not 1850. I found a Hugh B. in Scott Township, Montgomery County, Indiana in 1850. This one is 29 years old and list a Mary J. at 27 years old with him. He is listed as a carpenter born in KY. I found it rather odd that it was the same county name as KY so I went back to look at the top of the census image and of course Ancestry says it cannot grant my request at this time. They are working on it. You probably have this but here is mother living with W.E. in 1880.
