Tate is mentioned in "History of Clay and Platte Counties". Part of a very large list of names on an assessment roll of personal property for Platte, years 1837-1840. I even checked some of the spouses names without luck. I did find many entries for a General James Craig in "History of Buchanan County" but with a different spouse. There were many Craigs in Buch. Sorry not much help. Chuck McCardie -- The older I get, the better I was!
Chuck, I have already looked for my Platte Co. ancestors in the Platte Co. Annals, but would you please check your other resources for them? My ancestors are James Harvey Spurlock and Martha Spencer Spurlock. I think Martha's father may have William Spencer and she may have had a brother named Thomas Spencer. There were several other Spurlocks in Platte County too, brothers and cousins to my James Harvey Spurlock. Thanks very much. (James Harvey Spurlock and Martha Spencer Spurlock will not be in the cemetery records, as they moved to Kansas in 1856 and are buried there. However, some of the Spencer relatives are probably buried in Platte Co.)
