You did hit my family in the last paragraph. Mahala (Poe) Moutray: She married Guilford Moutray Jan. 4, 1836 in Todd Co. Ky. (record) and moved with him to Buchanan Co. Mo. in 1839. Guilford helped build the first court house in Sparta. Guilford died Fe b. 21 1852 (tombstone) and she married Jacob B. Cox (who was the son of Benjamin S.) Feb. 21, 1852 and married Jacob B. Cox on July 11. 1852 in Platte Co. (record) so I don't think if these are true, it could be poligamy, or was it Jacob? I have some court records, film, from the LDS library, so maybe I can find out. I didn't know about the third marriage, but had that she married Benjamin Higdon third. Of added interest, and again I may have to search some court records--William Riley Moutray, her son, was shot by Hamilton Boughman in Taos (St. Joseph Gazette). His wife was the daughter of Jacob Cox. I have been trying to find out more abou! t her, etc., but so far haven't been successful. Family said the Coxes were school teachers. Jacob B. did sign court papers on Guilford's estate. What fun!!!!!!
