    3. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------28C952F31A9A Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sue, Just to much to type right now. Here is a fwd with some of the info I sent to the list for another. In addition there is an obit on Annie Elizabeth Jones who was an Eskridge. She was born Feb. 23, 1849. Married Nov. 2, 1871, D. Scott Jones, also of Platte. Their only child was James T. Jones. Annie died March 5, 1910. Family bought McMillan farm 18 years prior to death in Linkville, where she died. Talks about her faith and church activities. Says she came with her father, 3 brothers and 2 sisters to Platte in 1851. Also had three half sisters and one half brother. There is a note at the end the the obit had a picture of the five Eskridge brothers: John, Lee, George, Will and Giles. I assume this is still at the KC Library Archives where these records were found. Last mention of the name comes from a clipping on an Odd Fellows annual "Big Night" meeting, Thursday, Dec. 22, 1910. John, Giles, George and Wiliam were in attendance. Just a note. Most of what I find are like this. Obits and such of families already in the original book. Also things like marraiges are added to the original page from the Annals book or at least referenced to it. It appears he wrote day to day for a few years after 1897, but his health prevented him from doing much more. Him or his daughter kept newspaper clippings and such on Platte citizens after that. 3. Chuck, I have already looked for my Platte Co. ancestors in the Platte Co. Annals, but would you please check your other resources for them? My ancestors are James Harvey Spurlock and Martha Spencer Spurlock. I think Martha's father may have William Spencer and she may have had a brother named Thomas Spencer. There were several other Spurlocks in Platte County too, brothers and cousins to my James Harvey Spurlock. Thanks very much. (James Harvey Spurlock and Martha Spencer Spurlock will not be in the cemetery records, as they moved to Kansas in 1856 and are buried there. However, some of the Spencer relatives are probably buried in Platte Co.) I did see a reference to Lorenzo Bird on a database for Leavenworth County History Name Index. Didn't show anything other than a page number. If you are not familiar with the area, Leavenworth is a stones throw across the river from Platte County, MO. Well, when I was younger it was a stones throw. Now it is a boat ride. Anyway, here is the description of the database. I have actually been trying to buy this particular book. Description: The History of Leavenworth County, Kansas was published in 1921 as a seminal reference work. It contains, in addition to an historical narrative about the county as a whole, a history of many early businesses and families in the area. Also of importance is a list of men who served in the Spanish-American War and World War I. This database is a name index to persons appearing in this work. It contains over 11,400 names and includes the page number in the history where the person's name appears. Chuck -- The older I get, the better I was!

Of course, there are probably many small family cementeries not listed. I do have him in the 1850 census with Nelly 1 month old. Others listed but much older, perhaps from a previous marraige. Shows him 37 and wife Annie Sprigg, 25. Amelia, 16 and Lorenzo Luther, 14. Also possibly mother or m-in-law, Hannah L, 54, born in MD. Chuck -- The older I get, the better I was!

Tate is mentioned in "History of Clay and Platte Counties". Part of a very large list of names on an assessment roll of personal property for Platte, years 1837-1840. I even checked some of the spouses names without luck. I did find many entries for a General James Craig in "History of Buchanan County" but with a different spouse. There were many Craigs in Buch. Sorry not much help. Chuck McCardie -- The older I get, the better I was!
