Surnames: Baldwin Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GMB.2ACE/674.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Unless I am mistaken, the 1850 census does not show parents place of birth. Paxton Annals does not state where James Sr or his wife Sarah were born. The 1850 census I have for Platte County show James H. and Susan with 2 children, John and James, ages 3 and 6 months. I checked the actual census image online with Ancestry and it does not show parent info. I checked my 1880 census CD's which would show that info but he is not listed in Platte. If he is still living and you know where he is in 1880, I will be glad to check further....Whoops, check that. I just noticed Paxton states he lived only a few years after marriage. His info conflicts with the 1850 census and it says the only child of the marriage was John T., of Butte, Montana (at time of writing). Goes on to say that Susan Thornton Baldwin married a Dr McCrudy second, of Idaho. Looking further, it appears James H. died in Liberty, Clay, MO in 1855. Sorry not much. Chuck

He graduated at Centre College, Ky., in 1837, studied law with McClung & Taylor, in Washington, Ky. He was four years older than I (William M. Paxton), yet we were companions at Centre College, studied law together, were licensed at the same time, started the practice together as partners, and continued the partnership in Missouri, but I removed, in 1841, to the country, and our association ceased. He was a finished scholar and a profound lawyer. He stood at the head of the bar, and was beloved by his associates. After practicing some thirteen years at Platte City, he removed to Liberty, and formed a partnership with Gen. A. W. Doniphan. He married Nov. 18, 1846, Susan THORNTON, daughter of Col. Renz is a old name in Platte County. I personally have not heard of the Rentz spelling in the area. You did not indicate what exactly you were looking for but here is some info I found. Simon was born in Germany in 1853. He immigrated with his parents to America as an infant: Database: Wuerttemberg, Germany Emigration Index Viewing records 20211-20220 of 109749 June 8, 2002 11:06 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE WUERTTEMBERG EMIGRATION INDEX: Volume Two ABBREVIATIONS OF OBERAEMTER = DISTRICT TOWNS page 162 Name: Renz, Simon Birth Date: 6 Jun 1853 Birth Place: Ergenzingen District: Rtb. The only other info I see is that he indicates the family are Catholics. It does also say the Zaccheus was a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Gramer Renz. Zac. learned the stonemason's craft and served six years in the German army. In 1850 he married Theresa Gramer and came to America in 1854, locating at Weston. At the time of his death in 1893, he owned 240 acres of land. ========================================== In cemetery records, I find Simon and Pauline are buried in the Weston Cemetery. Simon 1853-1926 Pauline Ruf 1858-1925 I also find Teresa Renz, 1827-1911, but no Zac. My guess is he is there but there is no stone. The cemetery is certainly old enough. ========================================== Simon and Pauline were married Dec. 10, 1885 in Platte County. =========================================== On the 1880 Census, I find Pauline living in Weston with her father and sister:Census Place: Weston, Platte, Missouri Source: FHL Film 1254710 National Archives Film T9-0710 Page 39B Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace Vinence RUF Self M W W 59 BADEN Occ: Saloon Kpr Fa: BADEN Mo: BADEN Paulena RUF Dau F S W 22 MO Occ: Kpng Hse Fa: BADEN Mo: WERTEMBERG Elenora RUF Dau F S W 20 MO Fa: BADEN Mo: WERTEMBERG ============================================ This area was rich with German immigrants at that time and many families are still in the area or on the original homestead. "His wife had gone before. He was born in Baden Germany, October 17, 1822; married Elenora Seile. The came to America in 1853." Lists the same 2 daughters as census. There are some Ruf names in the Weston Cemetery from Baden but I did not see Vin. Ruf. There is an Eleanor but she was born in 1860. ============================================ If you are inquiring about any children, I could not find any resource that showed any. I could not find them on a census after they were married but my resources are limited there. I hope something here helps. Chuck

I can find her husband and her children on census records, but Lucinda is not on the 1850, 1860, or 1870 census. Zabina died in 1854, but his wife didn't died until 1875.
