So all I have is the names and places of births and deaths. And the dates are approximate. I don't know when Tempe and W.James were married or where. So I don't know if they were on the census at all. The information I have came from the SS Death Index on my great-grandfather. There it had W.James and Tempe listed as his parents. I thank you for taking the time to reply to me. And if in your searches you ever do come across them please let me know...Thank you again....Amiee

Across the highway from the property are railroad tracks. I have been told that there is an article about the old stone barn/distellery n the "Platte County Place, Fall 1984 Issue" but I don't have this magazine. It was built by slave labor around 1851and completed about 1870. A George DUNCAN was said to have planned to used the three story building on the creek for a distellery but because of the Civil War, it was never used. After his death, descendants used the first floor for a stable. For some reason, it seems like her name was Judith or Julia. A later owner or descendant was named ODE or McQHIRT (unsure of the spellings). Perhaps, this will help you with your seach. Sorry that i don't have further information, I am attempting to research this old stone barn or distellery. It is a beautiful site. It is cur! rently owned by a private citizen who has built their name there. Feel free to contact me directly. Joyce Willhoit, Kansas City, MO

    3. Hi DSK and MOPlatters, Looking in the History of Clay and Platte Counties, I only saw references to the names CAMERON and PEBLEY. They were spelled a little differently and were found in the Clay County section of the book. It says: <'At the first election held in Clay County, in August 1822, the following were the voters in Fishing River township, which at that time, however, comprised the entire eastern half of the county...(The names of 100 men who voted are listed.) Jonathan Camron Elisha Camron Thomas Peebley The judges of this election were Elisha Camron, James Munkers and John Hutchins. The.....'> There were some Hawkins listed in the Clay County index but none were your names, but were Alfred, B.F., John C., Nancy and Wm. There is a fairly long bio on William H Hawkins that mentions his father John C. who came from Woodford County KY. The only mention of a TN connection is the sentence about Nancy which says that Andrew B Ross's 'wife, Nancy Ross, was a Miss Hawkins before her marriage and a native of Tennessee.' Nothing on your names in the Platte County half of the book. Since you said you had looked in the Platte County Annals, I didn't look there. The family was not in Arkansas or Tennesee. Later they moved to Atchison and Jefferson Counties in Kansas. In the census the following people are mentioned: Benjamin F Thompson 27 brickmason KY Margaret 21 MO Sarah 7 months MO Geo W 23 brickmason KY Demetrius 19 brickmason KY George and Demetrius are Benjamin's brothers. This is also the same family listed in Pettis Township on page 424 as follows: Benjamin Thompson 51 mason/farmer VA Nancy 40 KY Franklin 27 mason/farmer KY James 26 mason/farmer KY George W 23 mason/farmer KY Demetrius 19 mason/farmer KY John 16 mason/farmer KY Mary 14 KY Wm 12 KY Laura 9 KY Eliza 6 KY The Franklin is the Benjamin Franklin Thompson on page 350 in Lee Township. To make things really interesting George and Demetrius are also listed again in Lee Township on page 356 in the house of a Mose Burt along with a Clement Hooper (James Thompson married two of Clement's cousins later) Clement Hooper 22 laborer TN (in the household of Moses Burt) Geo W Thompson 23 laborer KY (in the household of Moses Burt) Demitrius 19 laborer KY (in the household of Moses Burt) I have a lot of information on this Thompson family but not too much information on Benjamin's children.

It seems that my g-g-g grandfather appeared out of the blue. I havent found any info that appears anywhere close to him prior to 1860 or after 1864. My g-g-g grandfather was Benjamin F. Thompson (probably Benjamin Franklin Thompson--his grandson was his namesake). He was born bet 1826-1828 in KY (county unknown). I found a Benjamin F. Thompson in the 1850 census for Platte Co, Lee twp MO and he is the exact age my g-g-g grandfather would have been. What I would like to know is if this particular Benjamin appears in the census for the same county in 1860 and on the offhand chance someone out there is connected to this Benjamin in the census I would like to know if he spent any time in TN or AR. Thank you for reading this. I have been looking for this Benjamin for many hours and it is about to drive me crazy!
