    1. [MOPLATTE] From List Mom - If you are changing E-Mail Addresses.
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, With so many of you changing e-mail address I figured it was time to send instructions as to how to remove yourself from one address and then subscribe again with the new one. I have over 50 messages asking me to do this for members. If you know in advance that your e-mail address is going to change go to Password Central http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ ask for a list of all the Mailing Lists you are subscribed to. Don't forget to submit your request at the bottom of the page. When you get your e-mail in about 1 minute you need to print it out so you know what lists you belonged to so you can re-subscribe. From the e-mail you can unsubscribe yourself from any or all of the mailing lists. or Just send the word UNSUBSCRIBE to NAMEOFLIST-L-@ROOTSWEB.COM (Change NAMEOFLIST to the name of the list and change L to D if you are on the Digest List) When you are ready to re-subscribe all you need to do is send the word SUBSCRIBE to NAMEOFLIST-L-@ROOTSWEB.COM (Change NAMEOFLIST to the name of the list and change L to D if you want to subscribe to the Digest List.) If you loose your e-mail address and are unable to unsubscribe yourself, then let me know and I will help. You can re-subscribe yourself to the list with the above instructions. I appreciate your help and thank each of you for helping to make our list the success it is.

    1. [MOPLATTE] WILLIAMS, Charles, Thomas or Frank NC>MO 1835-65
    2. Bev Gardner
    3. I'm trying to locate information on a male Williams born about 1837 and died during the Civil War. On his son's Missouri death certificate, it states his name was Charles, born North Carolina. The 1860 Platte County, Missouri census gives his name as Frank. Other researchers of the Butner family have his name as Thomas. He married Harriett Butner (born 10 Nov 1840, Bethabara, Stokes Co, NC; died 14 June 1916, Cowiche, Yakima Co, WA; her second husband James Elliott; married 3 Mar 1872 Wilson Co, KS). Harriett is a daughter of Christian Harmon Butner (born Forsythe Co, NC; died Waldron Township, Platte Co, MO) and Maria Louisa 'Mary Eliza' Leinbach (Forsythe-Stokes Co area, NC; died Waldron Township, Platte Co, MO). Frank (Charles or Thomas) and Harriett are shown with one son (William, age 2, born MO) in the 1860 Platte Co, MO census. The 1870 Platte Co, MO census has Harriett living with her parents and two children, William and Mary E (born cir. 1862). Her third son, my great grandfather, was Thomas Henry Williams (born 6 Sept 1860; died 20 June 1929; buried Maryville, Nodaway Co, MO; married Rose Florence Branick 26 July 1881, Wilson Co, KS) Tom is living with one of his mother's brothers in Wilson Co, KS when the 1870 census was taken. I'm assuming Frank and Harriett were married in NC, probably not too long before the Butner family moved to MO. There is no marriage record in Platte Co, MO for them. My first question is-does this Frank (Charles or Thomas) fit in with anyone's NC Williams line? When and where were they married? What really happened to Frank (Charles or Thomas)-what unit did he serve with during the Civil War and where did he die? Thanks for the help! Bev Gardner Proud Mom of a United States Marine

    3. Hi folks. I purchased a photo some time back and thought I would try to find the family before I frame it and hang it above my desk. Family photo taken in Platte City, MO the "Year of the Chicago Fair". Looking at the clothes I would say it was referring to the World Fair in 1893. B.W. Magee Mrs. Mary J. Magee Worthain John W. Magee Harvey W. Magee Mrs. Annie E. Magee Wheat Lewis W. Magee Mrs. Adelaide E. Magee Hall Paxtons Annals of Platte mentions John Magee, son of B.W. Magee. He married a Murdock, whose family is detailed in the book. I would love to get this photo to the family rather than hang it on my wall so if you can help in anyway, it would be greatly appreciated. Chuck McCardie The older I get, the better I was!

    3. I know of "a" Babcock Cemetery on Hillsboro Rd just north of Jones-Meyer Rd. The landowner across the street from it took alot of time last year to clear away brush and such. I went in later and found some small markers just under ground level and raised and straightened them. It does have an old fence around it along with a tree line. It is then surrounded by farm field and Jones Meyer Rd. I have lived in this are all my life and never knew it was there until last year. It is now grown over with tall weeds but not real thick. Should be an easy clean up. You can access Jones Meyer Rd from 45 Hwy between Farley and Waldron or from N Hwy. N Hwy now begins where 152 Hwy west ends at I-435 on the west end of the city near the airport. (not 152 and 435 nearer to Liberty). If you are coming south from Platte City or KCI on I-435, take the Barry Rd/152 West exit. Turn right (west) and right after a sharp curve Jones Meyer (gravel) will be on your left. Take it about mile to your first right which will be Hillsboro Rd. Go to the second driveway on the right. It is directly across the road from it. It is up and incline and you should see brush from last years work as well. It is in the tall weeds there. I have not had a chance to get over there and knock them down. I am not related to the family so I cannot tell you much about them other than what is in Paxton's Annals of Platte. Hope this helps.
