They have a child listed named Benton (borned about 1873). I believed he had died as a child since he was not known as one of my grandmothers brothers; however, I see the name Benton as am adult and am trying to make a conection. Any information would be helpful.

Would anyone have access to the index for the 1860 Census? I'm looking for Butner. If there are any listed, I would appreciate the township and page number for these listings. There should be at least two listed - Christian H Butner and Albert A Butner. Thanks for the help Beverly Williams Gardner Proud Mom of a United States Marine
Hi Bev I have a transcription for the 1860 census, not the actual pages, and so I can't give you a page number for the actual census. There is a C. Burtner(notice spelling) age 55 from NC on this census (no township given). Living in this household is a Catherine age 55 NC, Samuel 21 NC, Thomas 18 NC, Allen 14 NC, and Trofet (?) 10 NC. I looked under every conceivable way of spelling the name and came up empty for Albert. There were no other Butners in the county in 1860 according to my transcription. Hope this helps. As far as divorce records are concerned one might find them in the court records/minutes. I have found one from 1873/4. I have a couple of court record films at a local FHC but not covering the 1850's. I can order films thru a local FHC. It would take about 3/4 weeks. Gary Conwell
