In the other email I sent, I forgot to mention that in a listing of Cemeteries, there was a Norvell listed as being in Calumet Township. There is another site that I am sending you called "Find a Grave". I have been searching for a long time for the grave in Georgia of one of my 3rd great Grandfather's. Sheila, Several Southern sympathizes from Pike Co were originallly taken to Grassy Creek where they were held. Then if they were put in federal prison it probably would have been in St. Louis. Now that I know the words, I can see them. I agree that the date is 1853 not 1833. I still don't understand what the real situation was - and probably never will. The mother Martha (Mattie) died in 1852. The father Edmond was definately still alive in 1853 - I have him on an 1860 Census. And Martha Ann the daughter was married and living in Missouri in 1853. On 1850 Census she was in Iowa with husband and son. A second son was born in Missouri about 1851-1852. Unless Martha went back to Indiana to bail her dad out! But wouldn't her married name be used? Plus there were other children. Why not bond them? Guess we'll never know. Barbara Hardwick Collier

I'm researching the John Oliver & Diana "Ellender" Carpenter line from Pike County., John is my brick wall. I have Diana back to 1600's in Germany. John and Diana had 14 children all of whom lived. Their son Samuel is my great Grandfather. Samuel married Cynthia Groom. Samuel's brother General Jackson Oliver married Cynthia's sister Rebecca. With 14 children there's lots of family connected. Some I have lots on some no more than their name. Happy to share with anyone connected. Some other names are: Bailey Benn Bonnerans Brown Browning Carver Dempsey Eoff Fountain Gadberry Gamm Garnett Green Griffith Hawkins Higgins Hogue Houchins Knock Lonergan Love Madden Markwell McCann Miller Mitchell Mosier Mudd Oldham Pollard Shy Woods

I am looking for the family of Martha Marie Price bn 1822 Kentucky who married William O. Netherland in Pike Co, Missouri on April 25, 1846. ----------------------------------------------------- Click here for Free Video!! http://www.gohip.com/freevideo/
Hi Steve, Sarah (Sally Thompson) was not the wife of Joseph B. Parsons. Sally was the second wife of Joseph Parsons Sr. of Pittsylvania County. After Joseph Sr. died at a very old age, his son John Parsons purchased Sarah's widow's portion with the agreement that he would take care of her for the duration of her life, unless she remarried. I have a court document where John's son Levi was to appear before the court to answer the charge that he was the father of (can't remember her first name off the top of my head) ? Thompson's child. There was a younger female living with Joseph Sr. and Sarah in the Pittsylvania County, VA 1830 census between the ages of 20-30. Joseph was between the ages of 80-90 and Sarah was between 50-60. I have a copy of their marriage bond, if you would like it. Joseph Sr. died testate before January 20, 1834. He left his land on Cherrystone Creek to his grandson Joseph, son of John and Mishel Parsons. Joseph later sold this land and in the deed it was stated that it was the land that he had received from his grandfather, Joseph Parsons, decd. Joseph B. Parsons was the son of Samuel and Lucy Bailey Parsons. They left Pittsylvania sometime after 1810 for Kentucky. The lived in Rockcastle County, KY for a short time along with Samuel's brother Benjamin and Lucy's father Peter James Bailey and their families, then moved on to Logan County, KY where several of Lucy's brothers had settled. Jesse Parsons, another son of Samuel and Lucy, married a Hinton in Logan County. Samuel, Lucy and his children arrived in Pike County sometime abt. 1828. I have not been able to find the surname of Joseph's wife. She is not named in his will, but they were in the middle of a divorce. Joseph died before the divorce was finalized. Sarah appears in Lincoln County in the 1870 census and sold her share of land to three of her children and their spouses. She is also buried in the Parsons Cemetery next to Joseph. However, the dates that are on the tombstones are incorrect for their deaths. I'm descended from Joseph B. through his daughter Martha Jane who married Jonathan Davis.
