Obituary - Sedalia Democrat, 24 November 1944 James R. Cole James Read Cole, 55 years old, died at his home, Route 6, Sedalia, at 9:35 o'clock Wednesday night following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Cole was born on the farm where he died May 29, 1889, the son of the late Parmenas and Sallie Read Cole. He spent his entire life on this farm where he was born. He was never married. He attended Camp Branch school and, later, Central Business College in Sedalia. In 1941 he was preceded in death by his parents, his father passing away in March, 1941, and his mother passing away in June 1941. He is survived by two brothers, John E. Cole, of the home address, and Lemuel P. Cole, LaMonte; and one sister, Mrs. Ira Leiter, Sedalia. Several nieces and nephews survive as do two aunts, Mrs. Charlotte Bohon and Mrs. M. M. Stevenson; and two uncles, Dow Cole, Pilot Grove, and Lemuel Cole, Red Lodge, Mont. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Camp Branch church southwest of Sedalia. The Rev. R. A. Waggoner will officiate. Interment will be in the Cole family lot in the Camp Branch cemetery. Mrs. Frank McKinney and Miss Gladys Arnett will sing "Going Down the Valley" and "Sometime We'll Understand." Pallbearers will be Robert Rissler, Charles Gorrell, Charles Reid, Russell Haight, James McGrath, and Lloyd Perrin. The body was brought to the Ewing Funeral Home and returned to the family home Thursday evening.
