I believe that Amanda remained behind in Mo. There was a photo in one of these letters leading me to believe that it is a photo of Alphonzo. His diary reports his passage through Nicaragua, his encounter with his brother Ed (J.E.) there and his activities while mining during the Ca. gold rush.
