Sedalia Democrat June 1936: Society and Clubs Hayes-Engholm Wedding Mss Elizabeth Marguerite Engholm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Verney Engholm, 314 North Summit, became the bride of Mr. Clifford Forrest Hayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Hayes of Eldon, Mo., at 8 o'clock Saturday night. The ceremony was performed at the Epworth Methodist church by Rev. R. Emerson Hurd. The ring ceremony was used. The bride and groom were attended by Miss Mary Ruth Heuerman and " Bussy " John McBride. The ushers were Stine Finnell and James Keenan. Miss Alberta Owens sang "The Sweetest Story Ever Told" and " I Love You Truly." The wedding march from Lohengrin was played by Mrs. Paul Bertheoux. The bride was attired in a lovely printed chiffon with white accessories. She wore a white shoulder corsage. Miss Heuerman was attired in white and wore a corsage of gladioli. After the wedding a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Graham, 810 East Tenth street. Refreshments of cake and punch were served throughout the evening. The home was decorated with garden flowers. In the dining room the color scheme was pink and white. The dining table was covered with a white lace cloth. A large three tier wedding cake in pink and white was in the center of the table and pink candles on either side. Those attending the reception were Mrs. B. J. Hayes of Eldon, Mrs. W. G. The bride and groom has attended both the grade and Smith Cotton high school in Sedalia. The groom graduated from the high school at Eldon and is now attending Central Business College in Kansas City. The couple plan to take a trip to New Orleans, Washington, D. C. and other places of interest soon.
