Obituary - Sedalia (Missouri) Democrat, 13 February 1974 Mrs. Phila Potter Mrs. Phila Potter, 94, formerly of Sedalia, died in San Diego, Calif., at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Potter was born in Versailles, May 14, 1880, daughter of the late Daniel S. and Eliza Long Berkstresser. She was married to James W. Potter, Nov. 30, 1899, and he preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1911. On Feb. 14, 1924, she was married to Grant Potter and he preceded her in death in 1962. Mrs. Potter lived in Sedalia until 1968, when she moved to California. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in San Diego. Mrs. Potter is survived by one son, Dean Potter, 401 East Walnut; two daughters, Mrs. Susan Masterson, San Diego; Mrs. Rosa Lee Ousley, Rocky Mount, Mo.; two stepsons, Clarence Potter, 403 East 19th and George Potter, Orlando, Fla.; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Julia Kell, Lancaster, Calif.; Mrs. Tom (May) Dugan , 519 West Third; Mrs. Henry (Mable) Holman, 616 Wilkerson; Mrs. Fidelia DeCarpo, Inglewood, Calif.; two grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three step grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren, and five step great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Heckart-Gillespie Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Carpenter officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Burnett, Albert Johnson, Frank Royce, Cecil Swift, Clay Thomas, and Earl Wood. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Otterville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
