Obituary - Sedalia (Missouri) Democrat, 26 November 1957 Leslie James DeWitt Leslie James DeWitt, 65, Nelson, died unexpectedly at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Fitzgibbon Hospital, Marshall. He was born July 17, 1892, at Beaman, the son of the late Larkin and Anna Lee DeWitt. He was married Sept. 3, 1911, to Miss Maude Hanlin at Nelson. He was a farmer and a member of Memorial Baptist Church, Nelson. Funeral services will be at Peninsula Church at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. M. F. Butcher, Marshall, will officiate. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maude DeWitt of the home; two sons, Raymond, Nelson, and Virgil DeWitt, Marshall; two daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Reba) Thomas, Marshall, and Mrs. Earl (Norene) Nichols, Marshall; a brother, William DeWitt, Beaman; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son who died in infancy. Burial will be in Peninsula Cemetery. The body will be taken from Hays-Painter Funeral Home to the family home Thursday afternoon, where it will lie in state until time for services.
