Obituary - Sedalia (Missouri) Democrat, 12 January 1978 Benjamin H. Potter Benjamin H. Potter, 86, 904 South Marshall, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at his home. He was born May 8, 1891, near Clifton City, son of the late John and Mollie Sheffer Potter. He married Mrs. Bessie Steidel Lee May 22, 1955. She died in 1967. He was also married to Ora Ellis, who died in 1953. Mr. Potter spent much of his life farming in Pettis County. He also was employed as a carman with the Missouri Pacific Railroad from 1943 to 1958. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Lodge No. 142 in Otterville, and a member of the Railway Carmen of America. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Bill (Hazel) Richardson, 2913 East Ninth; one son, Ernest Greer, Knob Noster; one sister, Mrs. Grace Cox, Smithton; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Ewing Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Knox of the Broadway Baptist Mission officiating. Pallbearers will be William Hammond, James Green, Frank Mahalovich, Kenneth Glenn, Ellis Glenn and Stanley Gieschen. Burial will be in the Providence Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ewing Funeral Home.
