Obituary - Sedalia Democrat, 27 August 1962 Ulysses G. Potter Ulysses Grant Potter, 9 Route 1, Smithton, died at Bothwell Hospital, 6:10 p.m. Sunday where he had been a patient since July 23. He was born Feb. 1, 1870, in Cooper County, son of the late George W. and Candace Potter. He lived most of his life in the Smithton community. He also homesteaded in the Oklahoma Strip. He was married to Catherine Frank in 1892, who preceded him in death, Nov. 23, 1919. On Feb. 24, 1924, he was married to Phila Potter, who survives of the home. He was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church. Surviving besides his wife are four daughters, Mrs. Julia Kell, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Mae Dugan, 519 West Third; Mrs. Mabel Holman, Route 3; Mrs. Fidelia Hertsock, Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons, George Potter, Detroit, Mich.; Clarence Potter, Route 5; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren; a brother, Sam Potter, Otterville; and a sister, Mrs. Jessie Fair, Sedalia. Two sons, Teddy and Norman, and a daughter, Esther Cave, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gillespie Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Bowling and the Rev.
