His father was named Thomas. He had a daughter, Jane McClary Scales (10 Mar 1801-2 Jul 1868) who married Presley Piner (about 1794-28). Both Jane and Presley were botrn in NC, reportedly Rockingham County. Their families moved to Boone County, KY early in the 19th century, and many of their decendents subsequently moved on to Missouri. Other than the above, I know nothing of the Scales side of the house. It would appear there may be some connection between your early William Scales, son of Thomas and mine. Does anything in your records allow such a correllation, e.g. a reference to a Jane McClary Scales? Thanks. Dick Schenk
