This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Ayers Beard Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FMB.2ACE/2379 Message Board Post: I have tried for years, obviously unsuccessfully, to find what happened to this family from the 1880 census: 1880 Hughesville, Pettis, MO, p:156C (T9 #708) - 14 Jun Ayres, James H., 32 VA, VA, VA - farmer Mary M., 6 MO, VA, VA Murtle A., 4 MO, VA, VA Root, Mary J., 22 IA, OH, IL - servant James Ayers' wife, Eliza, d.15 Mar 1880 and is buried at the South Fork Cemetery. Since that cemetery has only about 30 percent read, I don't know if any of these other Ayers are there. All but one of the family and families of inlaws went to Pettis County from Illinois ca 1873. Some eventually settled in Lafayette and Jackson Counties and Oklahoma but no clue to the Ayers branch. Are there marriages in Pettis County that might include either of James Ayers' daughters if they survived? What became of this family? He is NOT the James H. Ayers in Kansas. Are they all buried at South Fork Cemetery? Are James' inlaws, John and Mary Beard, buried at South Fork Cemetery?
