My Gt. Gt. Grandfather, Silas FANNIN and part of his children disappeared from county records (Wayne County, WV) around 1887. My great grandmother, Rebecca (Fannin) Workman disappeared after her divorce in 1877. I havent been able to locate records of them anywhere else in WV or OH. It has been suggested to me that they may have left the area either with the Mormon movement or following them, then may have settled in Missouri, possibly Holden. Silas and wife Mary (Polly) had children: George Washington, Mary Bell, and Calista in the 1880 Wayne County, WV Census that I have not been able to locate. It was passed down that Rebecca "remarried and moved away," but no one could remember who she married or where they moved. Please look for these names and let me know if you find them in Missouri. Thank you. Ralph

When he entered service he gave Pettis County MO as his home of record. Soldier: JAMES EDWARD MILLER Born: Jan. 6, 1918. Black Date of loss: July 3, 1950. Missing in Action in North Korea. His remains were never recovered. When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 78families in MIssouri that have not been located. There is one family from Pettis County that has not been located. When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency. I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family. Hmmm. Mrs. Carter recorded a marker at HighPoint Cemetery near Hugesville, "John Bolger, 1837-1920." That the death date is the same but a double digit variance on the birthdate occurs...is...unusual. I added about 175 names to Mrs. Carter's reading of this cemetery (none Bolger)....and in checking those notes...I did not list the original marker...which means I either missed it altogether or agreed with her reading. Can you add a little more info? George C.
