    2. My suspicion is, based on the way it's stated on the death certificate, they mean Crown Hill Cemetery, which is owned by the City of Sedalia. You could contact the sexton at 830 N Engineer Ave, Sedalia, 65301 - (660) 826-1562. They would be able to provide some help for you. Good luck! 1. Re: [MOPETTIS] ALLEN COLLIER
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Collier, Eaton, Moore Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.pettis/509.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Anderson Allen Collier, the fifth child of Bartley S. Collier and Elizabeth Eaton, was born in Warren County in August, 1830. He was listed with his parents in the 1850 census for Warren County. On 12 October 1858 he purchased from his brother, Pleasant P., and his sister, Sarah, their interests in the land which their father, Bartley, had owned at his death, and on 7 February 1859 he purchased from his brothers, Henry H. and William J., their interests in that land. These deeds further identified the land as being that on which "Elizabeth Collier now lives." Anderson married Mary Jane Moore in Barren County on 20 December 1858. Mary Jane was born in Kentucky in November, 1839. On 23 March 1866 Anderson purchased from his brother, Preston M., his interest in the land which their father, Bartley, had owned at his death, and at some later date purchased from his sister, Mary Ann, and her husband, Joseph H. Davis, their interests in that land. I have found a deed dated 6 June 1870 from Allen A. Collier (this must be Anderson) and his wife, Mary J. Collier to Isaac Lowe, "a man of color," for a tract of land containing 91 acres more or less "it being a part of the land that descended to the said Collier and his brothers and sisters from their father B. S. Collier decd, the said A. A. Collier having purchased the interest of the other heirs in and to said 91 acres as per deeds of record." Anderson and Mary Jane were listed in the 1870 census for Barren County, Anderson being listed as Allen A., a carpenter with real estate valued at $2,000 and personal property valued at $1,150. Also included in the household were four children, all born in Kentucky. By 1876 Anderson and Mary Jane had moved to Missouri and were in the Pettis County, Missouri 1880 census. Anderson was listed as a farmer and included in the household were Mary Jane and five children. Soon thereafter they moved to Johnson County, Missouri and by 1900 were living in Warrensburg, the county seat of Johnson County, where they were listed in the 1900 census. Anderson was listed as a carpenter and included in the household were Mary Jane and two adult children. Anderson died before 1910 as his wife, Mary Jane was listed at age 70 in the 1910 Greene Co., MO Census as a widow with 5 children, all living. In the 1920 Jckson Co., MO census Mary Jane was listed at age 80 as a widow I have identified the following six children of Anderson and Mary Jane: Alpha, Derrilla B., Susan H., Omeme A., Elizabeth A. and John P. I have a modest amount of additional information about these children. Alpha Collier was born in Kentucky, probably in Barren County, about 1860. He was listed with his parents at age 10 in the Barren County 1870 census and at age 20 in the Pettis County 1880 census. Derrilla B. Collier was born in Kentucky, probably in Barren County, about 1862. She was listed with her parents at age 8 in the Barren County 1870 census and at age 18 in the Pettis County 1880 census. Derrilla married Horace Meredith in Johnson County on 21 November 1880. Susan H. Collier was born and died on 14 April 1864. She was buried in the Walnut Hill Church Cemetery located north of Bon Ayr on the Bon Ayr-Park City Road No. 255 in Barren County. Omeme A. Collier was born in Kentucky, probably in either Barren or Warren County, in 1865. She was listed with her parents at age 5 in the Barren County 1870 census and at age 14 in the Pettis County 1880 census. She married J. O. Cabiness at a Baptist Church in Pettis County on 30 May 1883. Elizabeth A. Collier was born in Kentucky, probably in either Barren or Warren County, in February, 1869. She was listed with her parents in the 1870 Barren County census, the 1880 Pettis County census and the 1900 Johnson County census. In the Johnson County census she was listed as a dressmaker. John P. Collier was born in Missouri, probably in Pettis County, in August, 1875. He was listed with his parents in the 1880 Pettis County census and in the 1900 Johnson County census. In the Johnson County census he was listed as a machinist.

I grew up in Warrick county and a descendant of William Levi Scales from NC, GA. The "family story" that was passed down through our branch tells that we were exiled from Scotland for being horse thieves. The story also goes that we opposed Mary Queen of Scotts and were exiled for political reasons. Even more interesting is that our ancestor was brought or taken to a penal colony. I always wondered if that wasn't Oglethorpe's colony in South Carolina.
