Parsons grandson, William P. Henderson lived in Sedalia at least between 1880-1910. Apparently, Robert Clarke Henderson had twin sons, Nathaniel & John, who also moved to Sedalia. Nice to "meet" you cousin. Diane (Baltimore, MD)

The dates you have given me aren't matching mine. Also, in my original post, I put they came from Virginia, they actually came from West Va. They were twins, and they both ended up here in Sedalia. I have been told, though, that they had 2 uncles with the same names that may have also came to the area years before them. Those uncles may be the two you are refering to. Did those two have a brother named Robert Clarke Henderson? If so, then those are the uncles, who I have very little info on. Thanks. Charles Wise

If any of you have visited the Pettis Co. page in the last month you will notice a new look and music! The new administrator of the Pettis Co page is George Willick of Madison Ind. He is an avid ragtime fan and comes to the Scott Joplin festivals every June. He has transferred all the info from the old page and is adding new records. While he was in the Sedalia area recently he transcribed and updated 15 cemeteries. He is adding these to the page as time permits. Please check these out! He is looking for help in transcribing these, so if you have the time and can do this, please contact him. You will also notice that he is adding obits to the page. He welcomes more obits from others, especially those from the 1800's and early 1900's. If you send him any, please send one per email and title the email "Pettis Co. obits." He has several other pages he maintains besides Pettis Co. Also, during the transfer of the page, the surname list, wouldn't transfer. If you would like to add your Pettis Co surnames to the page, or have in the past (they will need to be resubmitted), please email them to George with the title "Pettis Co. Surnames." George's email is [email protected] We welcome George as the new coordinator and look forward to new additions in the future. I will still maintain the list and can be contacted, also, but I can not add anything to the page myself. Cathy Warbritton Ass't Co-ordinator and list owner, Pettis Co [email protected]

Named in honor of Hon. Spencer Pettis, of St. Louis, a member of Congress from Missouri in 1828-31, and who was killed in a duel with Maj. Thomas Biddle, on Bloody Island, in the latter year. The first county seat was at St. Helena; in 1837 it was removed to Georgetown; in 1862 to Sedalia. The last named town was laid out in 1859 and named by its founder, Gen. George R. Smith, for his daughter Sarah, who was familiarly called "Sade" and "Sed". It was first called by Gen. Smiith "Sedville", but he afterward gave it the more euphonius title which it now bears. NOTE: This book was originally published in 1888. My reprint is from 1970. Information given here was from the original time period so county seats may have changed.
