P. Townsley, aged about four months. This is the third branch that has been severed from the family tree of this sorrowing household within a few years, and in the death of the baby, the little angel of the home circle, the wounded hearts of the bereaved parents have to bleed again, ere the other wounds were fully cicatrized. Just as the little flower began to bloom, the frost came and withered it, and parents and friends will weep because the baby is dead, but such is life, such is a full measure of its sorrows, and yet, all may expect their full share of similar griefs. We have felt as these stricken parents feel now, we, too, have laid away a little treasure in the cold, cold ground, but we buried her ere sin had left its stain on her angel brow. The sincere condolences of the neighbors and friends will be freely tendered to the sorrowing parents whose little baby has been transplanted in a better land.

Mr. Lane, with wife and son, left Joplin, Mo, a few days ago, for this vicinity having relatives residing on the Mason farm, north from Georgetown, hoping that the change of locality would be beneficial to the ravages of his disease - consumption. Arriving on Sunday morning's M.K. & T. train from the South, his feeble health won the sympathies of everyone. From the train he was take to the train depot, where he was carefully watched by friends, and was conveyed to Mr. Lynch's boarding house. Here Dr. Evans was summoned, who together with Mr. Lynch and family and others present, bestowed every care and attention. But the disease had so reduced him physically, that but a slender cord marked the line between life and death. At ten o'clock the poor man breathed his last - quietly he slept the long sleep which knows no waking, a vicim to that insiduous, fell destroyer of human life. Mr. Lane was born near Danville, Ky, and came to Missouri seventeen years ago, three years of which were passed in Newton Co. For the past two years he has resided in Joplin, engaged in mining, with the assistance of his son. His oldest son, 16 years old, accompanied him in his journey here. The remainder of his family are moving to this county overland, and will arrive about Saturday. The deceased is said to have been an estimitable citizen, and leaves a large circle of sympathing friends. He was buried yesterday evening in the family burying ground on the Mason farm.

The particulars, as near as we can learn them, are as follows: Tulley, and several others, were at a flat car on a side track with fencing lumber, the deceased handling boards from the ground to the car. The lumber was piled near the site to a considerable height and supported at one end by upright posts as usually used. From some unknown reason, no post was placed at the opposite end of the tall pile. Tulley in pushing up a board, accidently tipped the entire pile, and with the quickness of a flash, it came down, throwing him to the earth beneath the heavy weight. The main force of stroke took effect near his hips, crushing the bones and flesh in a fearful manner. He was also injured in the abdomen; in fact, all the lower portion of his body was more or less severely crushed. A plank also inflicted a terrible cut on the jaws extending to the ear on either side. He was immediately removed by his companions to a comfortable place, and soon after was conveyed to Mrs. G.T. Bailey's boarding house, No. 114 Main street, where he resid! ed. Drs. Trader and Carter were called and administered all in their power to his comfort. A few moments before he breathed his last, Tulley remarked to Mr. Bailey, who was giving him every attention to write his mother and brothers in New York that he was fatally injured and could not write, but before completing another sentence he fell on his side and died without a struggle. Tulley came to Sedalia about May 1st, and was for a short time employed at F.L.. Robbins and Farnham & Gilman's Livery Stables. About ten days ago he was gave employment in the M.K. & T. yards. The deceased had a mother and two brothers residing in New York City, and from their letters they are in well-to-do circumstances. They have written him several times to return, but he always replied he had left home like a gentleman, expended his money foolishly, and would not return until he had ample means. His brother have been telegraphed regarding the disposition of his body but no anwer received at ten o'clock last night.
