Gayoso was the town and the area in the river was known as Gayoso Bend. I have seen several old maps, even have one, and I don't think there was a Gayosonelle or Gayosoville. The reason for the town's demise was that the river in Gayoso Bend continued to cut into the land and they had no bank erosion protection, like Caruthersville does. Carolyn
