There was a Wilks Grocery in the 1200 block of Ward Avenue, owned by Robert Wilks. My husband's father, R. C. Powell, worked in the butcher shop there part-time on Saturdays during WWll. I remember the grocery store. The Wilks family was "very well thought of" in Caruthersville. Pictures of Marshall and Robert Wilks tombstones are on the Pemiscot County website. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mopemis2/ They were buried in Little Prairie cemetery. There is also a Maggie Wilks buried near Marshall, no tombstone. She was born in June, 1907 and died in July, 1921. There are other Wilks listed as buried in the cemetery on the Little Prairie page. Was the Dunavant family related in some way to the Wilks? There are five Dunavants buried in the jointly owned cemetery lots. Billie Powell Granddaughter of C. D. Fields and Kathryn Tims Fields
