Are there any transcription records? Is the cemetery still in existence? Is there a funeral home that may have records dating back to 1900? I have been told there are many members of the Edington/Eddington family buried there. I'm specifically looking for Frances Edington, who died in February 1900, but am interested in other names as well. It appears there may have been two separate Edington lines in Pemiscot County during the early 1900's. I haven't been able to make any connections between the two yet, so my line may not even be in the Cooter cemetery. Thank you in advance for any assistance! :-)

I have just learned that Ray Funeral Home handled a burial of a family member in 1950. Does anyone know how to find who has those records? Buelah Warren Champion Parm could be buried with her first husband there in Steele. If anyone has access to cemetery books will you look for a Buelah Champion or Buelah Parm? Brenda
When Beulah was married to Parm she lived in Dyersburg, TN. They separated but did not divorce before she died and did have another son together just 7 mos before Beulah died. My Aunt said Buelah had 2 children by a first marriage to a Mr Champion, so it could be possible that the Champion family was from there (Steele) and that is why she is buried there. She may have just been hospitalized in GA when she died. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, January 10, 2007 12:00 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MOPEMISC] Trying to find burial site Brenda, If Beulah Parm died in GA, do you know what or who was her connection to Steele that caused her to be brought back and buried there? That might help determine where she is buried. There are a lot of small family-type graveyards around Steele and the rural communities. Most of these are in bad shape, overgrown, etc. There have been some surveys of these many years ago, and they may be at the county library. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

But what a small world, I am fairly familiar with "Hot" Rogers, that's why it sounded familiar to me. He was Mayor when I was a kid, and continued to be long after I had grown up and left the area. He was a power to reckon with for decades in that area. I remember some Wilks family, but I remember their store being on Grand, or maybe Laurant Ave. somewhere around 10th St.

Thank you for looking Marilyn. I am not familiar with the area at all. Hopefully people will check books of transcriptions for that and surrounding areas.
