I understand that what was known as the Steele Cemetery back in the 1920s is now Mt Zion. Spoke to the sexton of that cemetery today. Is Mt ZIon online anywhere? According to the death record it is Cooter Twp. thanks to all who helped me find this record. Now to locate the sexton book for the Steele Cem. Thanks for locating the death record for me. My aunt was estatic! It is her mother who died when she was a child. Now, I would love to find out who the sexton is for that Steele Cemetery. Is that Mt Vernon? We have another person still who their records found on ancestry claim he is buried in Mt Vernon, he must have died in TN because I dont see him on the MO index. Anyone know who the sexton is at Steele Cem? He had twin brothers Herman and Herbert who were born about 1892. The boys were children of Jesse Liggett and Mary Cawthon(?) Jesse Liggett died in 1893, Mary Cawthon Ligget is said to have married a Mr. Harrington or Herrington. They had twin girls, one dying at birth, the other Lulu Herrington. The mother Mary Cawton Liggett Harrington/Herrington died too. Hershel, Herbert, & Herman were taken care of by family member after the death of their mother until it became too difficult for them, they then sent them by train to the Christain Orphans home in St Louis, MO. Hershel was adopted by a Stephens family in Kansas and that is where Hershel spent the remainder of his life. I am seeking anyone's help with putting this family puzzle together. I am not sure that Cawthon is spelled correctely, it could have been Cawthorn or something else. Mary Cawthon is said to have had brother Wes and Franklin. I know there were Aunt and Uncle Jeannie and John Garner also, as welll as an Aunt Dood/Dude. It is said that Jesse Liggett and wife Mary Cawthon(?) were both from the Stoddard and Pemiscott counties area. Jesse Ligget born abt 1849 and dying in 1892. I did have a problem loading it, but was able to access it by going to the index page: www.rootsweb.com/~mopemis2/cemeteries The transcriptions helped confirm that Margaret and Alice were spouses to two of the Edington men. I was also able to obtain the names of two more children. Interestingly enough, until Mary's post, I wasn't even aware Mitchell's No. 8 was the Cemetery No. 8 that I had been referring to! :-) Thank you for everything!

Harvey, Noble, William and John all fit in somewhere. It would seem Alice and Margaret are probably spouses. Lee is a bit of a mystery... I wonder if the name is male or female in this case? Thank you for mentioning the Missouri State Archives. I have several death certificates from their website, but wasn't aware it had been updated recently. Now I'm really eager for future years to be uploaded. :-) Once again, thanks for the info! It is greatly appreciated. I've hit some roadblocks recently while researching my Edington line and this gives me some new leads.
