    1. [MOPEMISC] Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: topperkerby Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.pemiscot/1748/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, Are there any cemetery transcriptions available for Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti besides those at the Pemiscot County GenWeb site or Find A Grave? My great-great grandmother's death certificate states she was buried at Woodlawn. I'm trying to determine whether she has a marked or unmarked grave. Her name is Fronie Edington/Eddington. I've heard of books that were put together by local historians/researchers, but I haven't been able to find any available through an Interlibrary Loan. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Are you a Missouri library card holder resident? If so, you should be able to access the Pemiscot books through either Mid-West Library in Liberty, MO or the St Louis County , Special Collections, Library. Both of these libraries usually will send a copy of the book you want to your local library. Their lending policies may have changed since I last used them a few years back, so you will probably want to try to contact them. I could not locate a record for Sarah Lucinda Graham Warren. The superintendent of the Mt. Zion Cemetery has done a wonderful job in getting the records up to date as far as possible. But there are so many buried there wihthout tombstones. Therefore, there is no way to find them unless a death certificate was filed. I couldn't locate a death certificate either. If you can't find a name on the Missouri Ddeath Index for 1910-1956, it is useless to write to the Missouri Bureau of Vital Statistics. But here's the link to the death certificates: http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/ The index is complete for the years 1910-1956. Currently, images of death certificates are available for the years 1910-1934 and 1945-1956. I couldn't find a certificate for Sarah and I tried several different spellings/name combinations. You may want to play around with the index and see if you can find her. I've found many of my relatives in the index with somewhat bizarre spellings! :-) Good luck with your search! Nannie Tidwell Pullam is the line I am tracking and I looking for additional information on her such as pictures. I have the list of her children but have not completed the tracking of all the children as of yet. Nannie is the daughter of Robert and Martha Tidwell and was born in Obion Co, TN. She had a sister name Ginnie which I find in the 1880 Census in Pemiscot, MO, living with her sister, brother and mother's new husband George Brown. If you have contact information for her descendants I would love to talk with them. Thanks for any help you can pass on. I doubt that we're talking about the same lost Bible, but I have transcriptions from the one that William Cole and Ellen Crockett gave to their oldest daughter. It lists William's mother as Marina/Mariah Mathews/Mathene/Mathis. The transcription was made in the 1930s or 1940s when there were no one in our branch of the family who could be certain which was the correct spelling. John Henry Cole's farm was on the state line, but on the Hickman Co. side of the border. According to census records, family members apparently moved back and forth across the state line several times. In many Obion Co. records, you'll find James M. Cole listed as simply Madison Cole. According to family tradition, which I have not been able to prove, John Henry had a brother, Obadiah, whose namesake son lived in Graves Co. KY. Descendants of both lines migrated to Sycamore Township, Montgomery Co., KS and then to Luther Township, Oklahoma Co. OK. Two of Obadiah's sons married MATHIS girls. I have not been able to determine whether they were sisters, or in any way related to our Marina/Mariah. I've done very little work on this line for several years, so will have to dig into notes for other unexplored clues. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have not found out much new either. Here is the Cole portion of my 2007 version of my family history. My maternal great great grandparents were JOSEPH E. CALDWELL [born December 10, 1832, in Adair Co., Ky, and died February 23, 1920, in Obion County, TN] and Lizzie M. Cole [August 27, 1841 - March 6, 1908]. JOSEPH married Elizabeth M. Cole on April 1, 1858, in Obion County. The father of Elizabeth M. Cole was James M. [Madison] Cole [February 17, 1813 TN - December 27, 1856 in Obion Co., TN]. He married Marina Mathews [February 17, 1813 - in a now lost family Bible her death was recorded as February 12, 1854]on June 1, 1833, in Obion County. In 1856 according to Obion County, TN, tax records James M. Cole owned no slaves but he did have 12 horses, 36 cattle, and 30 swine. The parents of James M. Cole were John Henry Cole [born 1770s - died 4-15-1835 in Hickman County, KY] and Mary (Scarbough? or Sharbor?) [born 1775 in NC - died c. 1837]. They lived in Obion County in 1830. Later John moved to Hickman County, Ky. After his death the family returned to Obion County. Children mentioned in his Hickman County will were Mexico (1811-1869), Madison, Elizabeth Minerva (who later married Allen Jones), and Marvel. I do have James Madison Cole's death date as Dec. 27, 1856. Mariah/Marina had died two years earlier. Madison had remarried and had another daughter, Susan. The two oldest girls married soon after Madison died and James Madison Jr., being of legal age, was appointed the guardian of the younger children.
