Marilyn, Would you be kind enough to look for Barry (Berry) inscriptions? The family group I am interested in is as follows: 1910 Federal Census in Pascola Twp, Pemiscot County, Missouri James M. Barry, 34, married twice, married for 7 mos, pob MO, Fa b. TN, Mo b. TN, laborer - stair factory Dora Barry, 18, married once for 7 mos, pob MO, Fa b. MO, Mo b. MO 1930 Federal Census, Pascola, Pemiscot County, Missouri: ln 12, Dora Berry, head, F, W, 38, widowed?, pob MO, Fa b. MO, Mo b. MO, Farmer - cotton. ln 13, Herrol Berry, son, M, W, 18, single, pob MO, Fa b. MO Mo b. MO, Farmer - cotton. ln 14, Porter Berry, son, M, W, 16, single, pob MO, Fa b. MO, Mo b. MO, Farm Labor - Farm. ln 15, Agnes Berry, dau, F, W, 12, single, pob MO, Fa b. MO, Mo b. MO, Farm Labor - Farm. ln 16, Imogene Berry, dau, F, W, 9, single, pob MO, Fa b. MO, Mo b. MO, None. ln 17, Virginia Berry, dau, F, W, 7, single, pob MO, Fa b. MO, Mo b. MO, None. ln 18, Lorna Berry, dau, F, W, 4, single, pob MO, Fa b. MO, Mo b. MO, None. I could not locate them in the 1920 census. Seems like James would have shuffled off this mortal coil between 1925 and 1930. We believe that the above Virginia is my S-I-L's mother. SSDI has a Porter Berry passing away in July of 1960. I have ordered his SS5. Mike in WA
I did nopt find any of these people listed in the 5 volumes of Cemetery Inscriptions compiled by the Pemiscot Historical Society in early 1970. There were other Mathis/Matthis listed but not these. Sorry. Do you know the town in which they lived? If you do, I can give you the names of cemeteries in or near that location. Maybe there were no headstones or they were illegible at the time of transcription. I am not an expert on genealogy, but I do have some information that was passed on to me by various aunts and great aunts. I believe the Joseph Klinkhardt you are referring to was my Great, Great Grandfather. His son, Theodore being my Great Grandfather and his grandson Joseph was my grandfather. The records I have indicate that Anna Frances Thum Klinkhardt died March 18, 1928. I will contact one of my aunts to see who knows the most about the Klinkhardt family geneaology. FYI, I also appear to have a photo (copied) of Joseph and Anna Klinkhardt with their children. If any of this is helpful, please let me know. I have been able to make some progress on these two families, but I'm still having some difficulties with the Liggett family. The families lived in Pemiscot, Stoddard, and New Madrid counties. I believe John Cawthon married Margaret Liggett about 1858, and they were the legal guardians of his second wife's (Eleanor Bartlett) siblings William and Lucinda Bartlett. 1858 Court Records show a John Cawthon and Margaret Liggett as being the appointed guardians of the Bartlett heirs, this occurred in the August term 1858, New Madrid Court Records. 1860 Census of New Madrid Co, shows John Cawthon and wife Margaret with children: Sarah E, Charles, Franklin, John, Missouri, and Amanda, and with the two Bartlett heirs, William and Lucinda. Can anyone confirm this is the Margaret that is listed as Margaret Liggett in 1858? There are no Clayton names listed in the White Cemetery of the Pemiscot Historical Society Cemetery Inscription Vol 2, nor was Hiram in Vol 5 although there were other Clayton family names listed. There is a Hiream Theodore Clayton s.o. T &C L Clayton, Oct 8, 1919-Nov 15, 1921 in the Portageville Cemetery, listed on p62 of Vol 1. You are aware that the PHS did these inscriptions in 1970. Anyone buried after that won't be listed in the books. "[email protected]" <[email protected]> wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. I'm embarrassed to ask this question. Should have straightened it out in my mind years ago. Somewhere, I got the idea that Braggadocia was not the same as Bragg City. Am I correct? My family was from near Bragg City (1936 - 1943) and in earlier years they were in Virginia Township. Are these areas near each other? Is Braggadocia the same as Bragg City? My families were Butler, Funderburk, Nunnery with a Motley and a Holcomb thrown in.
