He lived in Caruthersville but for some reason unknown to us he actually died in Arkansas. I was hoping his obituary would have still been posted from where he had lived. His name was Dan Ledbetter, born Sept 21, 1866, died Nov 19, 1952. Thanks in advance. Anxiously waiting to hear from you............... I am looking for the burial place of who I believe is my great grandmother. The death certificate gives the following information: Emma Lee Lang b) Dec 25, 1892 Davidson co., TN d) July 24, 1918 Little Prairie, Pemiscot Co, Mo. Place of Burial: Caruthersville Is there a township called Little Prairie? The certificate says the place of death township is Little Prairie, but the informant, her husband?, Robert Lang, shows their address as Deering. The undertaker was from Caruthersville. My Emma's 2 sisters, mother, and stepfather are buried at Maple Cemetery, however they died in the 1930's and 1950's. On my one trip to Missouri I did not find Emma buried near them. I did not know her married name at her death, and the time between her death and theirs may have kept them from being buried close to each other. I would appreciate knowing if any of the printed cemetery books has her listed in any cemetery. The family tale is that Emma was going to leave her husband and she died when he put a hatpin through her ear. Something was said that the husband had some group's influence, and was never charged in her death. When I started genealogy and asked about her, my grandfather had passed and no one seemed to know who her husband was at the time, as she was married several times. My grandfather was only a toddler when she died. This death certificate seems to match her maiden name, birth, and approximate date of death, although the name of her mother doesn't match. The death certificate says of the cause of death: 'Fell dead in floor. Don't know of any cause'. So there could be some truth to the legend. One weird thing is that I can't find in that area or the surrounding counties, a death notice in any paper or marriages for her. She was born a Malone, married and had a daughter by a Ernest? Jones, my grandfather by Bill Blackard, and then possibly married this Robert Lang. Unfortunately the census falls after she dies and this Mr. Lang is no longer in Pemiscot Co in 1920. He may have worked for the railroad. My grandfather and his half-sister were raised by their aunt, Maud Chism Alexander and grandparents, Frank and Carrie Ezell. The other aunt was Nora Ethel Malone who married 1st Riley Burnett and 2nd Thomas James Kennaman. I'm told Nora's family moved to possibly Pine Bluff, Ark., although Nora is buried at Maple Cem. Has anyone from Pemiscot County or the list, heard anything about these families or individuals that lived in or around Deering, Hayti, or Braggadocio. Is there an older person still living in one of those areas that could be asked if they ever heard a rumor or something about this story? I've posted before about this family but keep hoping something might surface. Thanks for any help! Rebecca B. Moss
