Thanks for locating it for me. I did find that it atleast had a post office up until 1920. I wonder why it doesn't show on any of todays maps, there are a good many cross roads marked on current maps that have no building even close. Berryman who died at the County Rest Home on June 2, 1957. He is buried at Little Prarie Cemetery. His birthdate is unknown but it states that he is 75 years old. His parents are unknown on the certificate. I believe this is possibly John Augusta Berryman who married Sarah "Pinkney" Victoria Ricketts. John was born in Alabama and Sarah was born in Mississippi. I have his birthdate as July 26, 1880 which was taken from his World War I draft registration. On this death certificate, Dewey Randolph, (address...Rt #1, Hayti, Missouri) is the informant. John H. German is the funeral director. I'm trying to determine if Dewey Randolph is some relation or possibly just a representative from the County Rest Home. Was also curious if there may be other Berrymans buried at Little Prarie Cemetery. Am trying to prove or disprove if this is our John A. Berryman. Any help would be aprreciated. Berryman McMillin. This is what we know: On Thursday, October 9, 1924, The Steele Enterprise, printed her obituary. What we have is not the complete obituary and I'm told that the paper was crumbled at this area where it stops. Is there another source for this particular paper? This is what was printed in the paper... Death of Mrs. McMillan Mrs. Martha McMillan of Brgagadocia died Saturday and was buried Sunday. Mr. W.M. Cooper preached the funeral sermon, she being a member of the Church of Christ. She leaveas a husband and two children and her parents to........(and that's all we have) Martha and her husband, Herbert/Hubert Frank McMillin had not been in Pemiscot very long. They came there from Tipton County, TN. She was born abt. 1903 and was only 22 years old when she passed away. There was a short obituary that ran in the Covington Leader in Tipton County paper that read: Mrs. Martha E. McMillen, wife of Mr. Frank McMillen, formerly of the Gilt Edge vicinity died at her home in Steele, Mos., Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock, after a week's illness, and was buried there on the day following her death. Mrs. McMillen, who was 22 years of age at the time of her death, is survived by her husband, one and one daughter. As you can see the two obituaries do not agree on which day she died. I am trying desperately to help my friend, who is the granddaughter of Martha and Frank, find where she is buried. We had hoped we would find the information on the death certificate but we can not find a death certificate for her in Missouri either. We believe she is probably buried in the area where she died. Her death date is either October 3rd or 4th, 1924. Martha is the daughter of John Augusta Berryman and Sarah "Pinkney" Victoria Ricketts Berryman. If anyone could shed some light on this we would be forever grateful. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Zion is the biggest cemetery in Steele. I would start looking there. Someone here had a book listing burials in Mt. I have a mystery (Dont we all?) My gr-uncle George Billings was born Jan 1892 in Arkansas, he was married twice, once to Mrytle Witt, divorced her married Aunt Cleveland Pierson, Aunt Cleveland already had Children by her first husband. George and Clevie had Alfred and Opal. Opal died at 1 year old. George was not an upstanding citizen,He married Clevie without being divorced from Mrytle. Clevie found out and made him get a divorce and then she remarried him. When Alfred was about 4 years old aunt Clevie left George. Alfred never saw his dad again for appox 20 years and then he just shows up one day. They kept in contact with each other there after. After Clevie divorced George he moved on to the Jackson Co Tn area, connected with another lady and they had approx nine children. He shows up one Sunday morning in the 1950's at my mothers house wanting her and my aunt (the only two siblings of his sister) to go to court and try and get the land that my grandfather sold after my grandmother died in 1918. Now here is my mystery and the help I need. When George left Clevie, he changed his name to John Smith. He died and was at a funeral home in Steele Mo. Alfred went to the funeral and told the funeral director that he had the wrong name on him. and the funeral director did change it back to George Billings and that is how he was buried. His Smith Children were suppose to be living around Helena Ark,one of the sons was suppose to be a policeman or police chief. How do I find where and when George died and where is he buried. He had to have died between the 1950's and 1982 as this was when Alfred told me about his dad. George had a step daughter that lived in Steele, Did he go back there because of her?? She was Ines Frances Bowen Cothern. Thank you for any suggestions. Wilma

We are from New Athens, Illinois, and have alot of Klinckhardt history. Our Klinckhardts come from Christian Gottlieb, Dr. Edward (his son), Alex ( a grandson) and Marie (Klinckhardt) Waeltz (Great granddaughter). The Klinckhardts you are referring to came into St. Clair County history from Hecker, Illinois. It is located on the Monroe-St. Clair County line. As I remember, Anna Thum died at Hecker while her husband was at Hayti, Missouri, tending his farm and didn't make it back in time for her death. From this I would think she is buried in the Catholic Cemetery at Hecker and I would recommend checking the Catholic Church records. I do have some of the old history of Joseph and also made a trip to Hayti, Missouri, to talk with descendants. Hope this helps a little.
