Hi Group, Just to let you know that I've been adding names to the cemeteries thanks to Marilyn Liesmann. Also, I've added a picture of the Pemiscot Ferry (listed under "Towns") that was sent in by Carolyn! All kinds of new "stuff" is being added to the web! Check it out! Find the links under "What's New" Marsha & Edward http://www.rootsweb.com/~mopemis2
Carolyn and anyone else that might can help - I am searching for any information on the following COLEMAN family - I can find no record of death - no burial information - nothing about marriages - all I have been able to find is census information. I find them in 1860 - 1900 in Pemiscot County, MO - Cottonwood Point - G.I. Coleman born VA 1842 (George) Lucy Coleman (wife) born TN 1850 George W. Coleman (Son), born MO 1867 Zelia I. (Dau) born MO 1868 Lee A. (Son) born MO 1870 Betty A. (Dau) 4 born MO 1876 In 1900 George W. Coleman is found married to Martha A. Holland Coleman born MO 1870 (Mattie) they have the following children Clay W. Coleman born in 1893 Lucy A. Coleman born in 1895 died sometime after 1910 (died of TB at age 16 or 18) John Britton Coleman born in 1897 Sometime between 1900 and 1910 Martha (Mattie) Holland Coleman died - (story has it she died of TB but I can find no record) and George remarried to a Minnie Bell Darby - In the 1910 AR - Mississippi County, Clearlake township I find George W. Coleman -I can find no record of death Minnie Bell Coleman - remarried after George died Edmond Coleman Clay Coleman - died in AR in 1955 Johnnie Coleman -died in CA in 1953 Lucy Coleman -I can find no record of death Bennie Darby Fredie Darby Lewis Wright This Edmond Coleman, in 1910, is listed 4yrs old and as "son" just like Clay and Johnnie. Bennie and Fredie Darby and Lewis Wright are listed as "step sons". My 81 year old mother(Clay was her father) and no one in the family knows anything him and I can find nothing about him. I assuming Mattie might have had him before she died since in 1910 Minnie and George W. had only been married 1 year. Please, I am just begging anyone that has access to burial records or cemetery records to help me find these records or any records on these COLEMANS. Thank you in advance for any information. Donna Herring Eades
It is called Wolf Bayou, and you get there from Caruthersville by going up 61 or the levee road. It is closer to Portageville than it is to Caruthersville. Don't know anything about the family, sorry. Carolyn
Friends, this is Carolyn, I live in Jefferson City, MO, where the Archives are. And had volunteered to do look-ups. Well, my life for several months has been chaotic. I have been ill, had to be hospitalized. My sweet hubby downloaded aol 8.0, I lost all my email (Yes, I know it is not supposed to do that.) He had someone come in to clean up the house (I love him for doing that) but she did something with all my look-up cards that were all next to the computer. So, if I was supposed to look something up for you and have not done it, please resend it directly to me. I've been going through email today. I know that Charlotte actually lives in Pemiscot County and is so great about finding things for people. And several others are helping people. This is great. Remember to share your findings with the whole list. I love it when I see a family name I recognize. The Archives depends on submissions from each county. I feel that there may not be as much material here as there is in the genealogy room at the library in Caruthersville. I have my own inhouse expert on Pemiscot County (my hubby). So, that helps. Carolyn
Gayoso was the town and the area in the river was known as Gayoso Bend. I have seen several old maps, even have one, and I don't think there was a Gayosonelle or Gayosoville. The reason for the town's demise was that the river in Gayoso Bend continued to cut into the land and they had no bank erosion protection, like Caruthersville does. Carolyn
I'll have to forward that question to the mailing list... I'm just not sure. Hi Group & Happy New Year! We've got a new lookup volunteer for Pemiscot marriages - Thanks to Charlotte! Find all of the lookup volunteers on the "lookup" page under Resources. If you have access to resources, or you've copied public information that we can post on the web, please send it to me! Even if it's just a few names, it may be a name that someone has been looking for "forever!" Happy hunting, Marsha & Edward http://www.rootsweb.com/~mopemis2

Hi Group, I've just found this link through another county list. Thought ya'll might want to take a look at it.
