Hi, This is Donna Eades and if you are in my address book you are receiving this message to inform you that our e mail address will be changing. It is now mdeades@cox-internet.com. The old address, mdeades@magnolia-net.com should still be good until the end of the month, but I would like to start using the new one. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon! Mark and Donna Eades
Hi Group, Marilyn finished sending in names in Marriage Book 3! Check those out under "Marriages." Also, Charlotte sent in the heads of household for the 1830 New Madrid Census. I've posted them on the web, since Pemiscot was formed from New Madrid in the 1850's. Many of our ancestors may be in this listing. Thanks to both of you! As I was working on the web, I noticed that my Holley family is the only family in "First Families." They are getting pretty lonely there! The "First Families" section of the web is for families that moved to or were in Pemiscot prior to 1900. (I figured 100 years ago is long enough to be counted as a first family!) Please send in your "First Families." I'll put them on the web with your email address. This way, you can be contacted by someone researching the same family line. Do NOT send in anyone born after 1920. They will not be posted unless they are deceased. It is too dangerous to have personal information on line about living people. If you have a website about your Pemiscot ancestors that you would like posted on the "Personal Genealogy Pages", I will be pleased to add the link. Happy hunting! Marsha http://www.rootsweb.com/~mopemis2
Hi Group, Just to let you know, Marilyn has added more marriage records from Marriage Book 3! Happy hunting! Find the links under "What's New" or "Marriages." Thanks Marilyn! Marsha & Edward http://www.rootsweb.com/mopemis2

Hi Group, More goodies for you! Charlotte Winstead has been working very hard!!! She's sent in a number of cemetery listings and some history of Cooter! The cemeteries are: Braggadocio, Coleman, County Poor Farm, Frazier, Holly, mitchell's #8, Samford and Taylor!!! I'm going to "spider" (index) the site in a few minutes. You will be able to use the search engine in about 30 minutes for your names. Thanks again to Charlotte & to all of you that have submitted information to the web. It's growing!!! GNIS says it is a populated place 5 km NE of Steele. Carolyn
It is about 3 mile north east of Steele. I grew up between Portageville and Hayti and knew I had heard the name. A very hand site for finding such things is http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form In this case enter Micola as the Feature Name, Missouri as the state, Pemiscot as the county and Feature type select populated place and click on submit. It apparently has also been known as Mecca and as Pokono. Now click on View USGS Digital Raster Graphic and you can see it on the map. It looks like a group of houses at a railroad crossing. Hope this helps Ina Dollins wrote: > >Does anyone know where Micola, MO. is? Is this in Pemiscot Co. Does anyone know where Micola, MO. is? Is this in Pemiscot Co. I haven't been able to find it on the map.
I am sending this to the list hopeing that it might help me and it might help someone else looking for some of these surnames. This note below is from my aunt that is 80 years old and remembers a few of the names from Pemiscott Co. . If any one sees a surname you recognize please get in touch with me. We are trying to find anything we can about the Connelley surname (all spellings) also the Colemans mentioned below. Thanks Ina Ina, I am so sorry of not reading this sooner, I have so many messages on my computor, I'll never read them all. I don't know where to answer this. Yes, we were related by marriage to John Coleman that live at Micola, MO. He married my Aunt Mattie Connelley. I don't know when. Uncle John dies in the late thirties or early forties. Aunt Matt died not long after Lavon and I were married. It must have been about 45. I remember it was cold. I think it was February. They had a daughter married to Lee Jennings. They raised their granddaughter Margartet Jennings. Lee and his wife had serveral children. I don't remember their names. One or two attended school in Deering Missouri. I wish that I could help more. Aunt Lorene. If you find how to contact them go ahead. Aunt Lorene
Ina and All, Thank you for your post! Where is Denton County, MO? Is it in the southern part? My mom is 81 and I know what you mean about finding family - that's how this all started - looking for a long lost uncle of hers- His name was John Coleman born in 1897 - do you think it could be the same one? He was born in MO and then moved to CA. We found his family and that really made a great Christmas present. I'd be happy to share anything in the world I have if I can help. The Connelley name doesn't ring any bells with me but I'll keep it in mind. You never know. Thanks again, Donna
There is an old cemetery at Denton Mo. Called the Coleman Cemetery . Maybe your Coleman's are buried there. This Cemetery in in the middle of a field on private property. My husbands grandfather is buried there . His name was Harry Connelley. It is thought that in some way he was related to the Coleman's. I have an aunt that is 80 years old and she says that she remembered an old uncle named I believe John Coleman. And that he was real well todo are anyway she thought so as a child. We know very little about our Connelley family and if anyone knows of any Connelley's please let us know (any spelling of Connelley) Our Harry Connelley was struck by lightening and killed in the year of 1921. My 80 year old aunt was only 3 weeks old at the time of his death. Sure would appreciate any thing anyone might know of the name of Connelley. Thanks Ina ----- Original Message ----- From: Eades To: MOPEMISC-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, January 07, 2003 6:32 PM Subject: [MOPemiscot] Help - look up attack Carolyn and anyone else that might can help - I am searching for any information on the following COLEMAN family - I can find no record of death - no burial information - nothing about marriages - all I have been able to find is census information. I find them in 1860 - 1900 in Pemiscot County, MO - Cottonwood Point - G.I. Coleman born VA 1842 (George) Lucy Coleman (wife) born TN 1850 George W. Coleman (Son), born MO 1867 Zelia I. (Dau) born MO 1868 Lee A. (Son) born MO 1870 Betty A. (Dau) 4 born MO 1876 In 1900 George W. Coleman is found married to Martha A. Holland Coleman born MO 1870 (Mattie) they have the following children Clay W. Coleman born in 1893 Lucy A. Coleman born in 1895 died sometime after 1910 (died of TB at age 16 or 18) John Britton Coleman born in 1897 Sometime between 1900 and 1910 Martha (Mattie) Holland Coleman died - (story has it she died of TB but I can find no record) and George remarried to a Minnie Bell Darby - In the 1910 AR - Mississippi County, Clearlake township I find George W. Coleman -I can find no record of death Minnie Bell Coleman - remarried after George died Edmond Coleman Clay Coleman - died in AR in 1955 Johnnie Coleman -died in CA in 1953 Lucy Coleman -I can find no record of death Bennie Darby Fredie Darby Lewis Wright This Edmond Coleman, in 1910, is listed 4yrs old and as "son" just like Clay and Johnnie. Bennie and Fredie Darby and Lewis Wright are listed as "step sons". My 81 year old mother(Clay was her father) and no one in the family knows anything him and I can find nothing about him. I assuming Mattie might have had him before she died since in 1910 Minnie and George W. had only been married 1 year. Please, I am just begging anyone that has access to burial records or cemetery records to help me find these records or any records on these COLEMANS. Thank you in advance for any information.
