The Dunivants don't sound familiar, but the Woodard's are of the correct line: Berniece (McClanahan) Woodard was the first wife of Joe "Vernon" Woodard of Steele, MO., my wife's Uncle. She was killed in a car wreck , leaving a young daughter, Martha Jean Woodard, my wife's closest cousin. Lee Woodard was the brother to my wife's Grandfather. We have lost track of that side of the family, so you have may some much wanted info. Mary (Hargett) Woodard was Lee's wife. If you have information on these people we would sure like to hear back from you. Thanks so much, for the reply. Larry and Mary Janet Woodard Ruff P.S. Hello, Trying to find out anything about a Delbert C. JOHNSON from Caruthersville, MO. I have a copy of a half/page written statement from him concerning William JOHNSON who migrated to MO @ 1840. I would like to know his connection to the family he is describing. This document is undated. It is handwritten. (Mine are copies of this information.) It is in a set of letters, etc. that were sent to me in the mid 1980's and most of the letters in this packet were written in the mid 1940's. Up at the top of the first page it says: TOM BARNES---JOHNSON-JOHNSTON FILE. Can anybody out there help me out on this one?? Thank you, Judy in TX

I have Dolly's family traced back as far as the 1870 census and land records of patents obtained in 1858. She appears to have been the daughter of Robert B and Martha A (Camp)Turner, although there is a mystery in that she is listed in the 1900 census living with her brothers, John M. and Walter I Turner with Martin Turner as the head of house and they are listed as sons and daughter and Dolly's children listed as grandchildren. I'm not sure if Martha A remarried a Turner relative or what the situation may be.Dolly remarried in 1901 a man named Harvey or Harry Smith and had three children, Ruth, Robert and Roy. Blanche's brother, Emerson, may have married a Willbanks(Beth?) and moved north (WI?) after 1930. The 1930 census shows him with children, Connie, Carl, Mildred and Nora. I also show Rober! t B. Turner as being born in Mo, and there are Turners listed in the 1840 census for New Madrid, Little Prairie Twp(James and John) and the 1930 census for New Madrid (Thomas) but I can't tell if he is the child of one of these or not. If any of this matches someone else's info or sparks a memory, I would appreciate hearing from you. I will be happy to share anything I can.

I am searching for any information on Charles Jefferson SIMS. He was born in Portageville, New Madrid County, MO on July 12, 1882. I believe I have found him in the 1900 Butler township, Pemiscot County, MO census with his parents, William R. and Elizabeth Sims. He has siblings also listed as Rebecca R. (AKA Beckie Rose) who married a Frank FIELDS on October 28, 1903 in Pemiscot County, MO. Rebecca on the census was shown to be born in 1889. Also, another sister ?Lena or something to that nature. It is hard making out the name. But I am searching for any info on this family. I have found a Mrs. W. R. Sims that died in Pemiscot County, MO in November of 1906. I believe this to be Elizabeth. Any information that can be given to me will be greatly appreciated. You may respond to me via email at rootsnut@yahoo.com or here on the list. Thanks for any and all help. This is my husband's family. Sincerely, Carrie S. Story has it that Jim was killed and Jane packed up her children (rumor to have 3) and went to Indiana in a covered wagon to live with brother. From there George went to Kentucky and one brother is said to have went west. Another boy is said to have died early and is buried in Meade County. As of 1910, George's mother Jane was living with him and was the age of 69. I have that she died in 1913 and buried in Johnston Cemetery. Your Cousin Carla
I'm hoping to go to Pemiscot County in a couple weeks. Any suggestions on the best places to look for family history info in a limited amount of time? I'm trying to identify the parents of my gr-grandfather, Newton C. Laws. He was born in June 1870, supposedly in Pemsicot County. Unfortunately by the 1880 census he was living with the William Meatte family in New Madrid County. No one in my family knows why, who they are, or what happened to Newton's parents. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike Laws St. Louis, MO
