Hi: Don't be surprised if you can't find a death certificate for anyone who died in a rural area anywhere in the U. S. in the early 1920's (and maybe even later). Many states were not in full compliance on filing birth/death certificates until 1930. One of my great grandmothers died in Ozark County, MO, in 1925, but the State of MO cannot locate a death certificate for her. Some people didn't feel that they had the money (and probably didn't) to pay a doctor to fill out and file a death certificate, so the family would wash the deceased, put clean clothes on them, build a coffin for them and quietly bury them, frequently in an unmarked grave. This happened quite a lot in remote areas, especially if there was no doctor in attendance at the time that the individual died. Good luck on locating an obituary for your ancestor.
