Hi Marie We looked in the 1860 census. We do not find any Simpsons listed in Ozark Co. There are some 259 listings (households, or odd names within a household) listed for all of Missouri. Perhaps Jasper was in his parents household, but that would have to be in a different county. Do you have any suggestions of where that might be? Hi Jim and Wanda, Thank you for looking. On the 1850 Marion Co. AR census, I found an Archibald SIMPSON b in KY, his wife Martha b in KY and three sons, Jasper age 8, Marion age 5, and Joshua age 1 all born in Missouri. I would love to assume this is the Jasper SIMPSON I am looking for, but I know in genealogy you are not suppose to assume anything. So far I have been unable to find Archibald SIMPSON in another census. My Jasper SIMPSON was supposed to have been born in Shannon Co. MO in 1840-1842. In 1880 census Jasper SIMPSON is in Newton Co. AR age 38 "blacksmith" b in MO. Do know he served the "Union" during the Civil War (AR 2nd Calvary Company M). Jasper died in Oktaha, Muskogee Co. OK. Don't understand how these people moved around so much way back then, they must not have had as much baggage as we do now? I appreciate your help.
