Rachel, I have the children of Levi and Sarah in the households of William R McKinney, and Leander McKinney. Nancy Emaline was with Leander. I would assume that both Levi and Sarah were dead before the 1880 Census. My Speculation is that Levi was a brother to my Grand-father, Henson C Casey. Rachel: Have you tried looking under different spellings for CASEY in the census indices? I found a gr gr grandfather of my husband's (name: Sherwood /Sherod, Sherid, etc., JAMES) on the 1870 Barry County, MO, census index under SHERID, James rather than JAMES, Sherid (Sherwood). The reason: the census taker had listed his given name first rather than his surname as he had done for everyone else on the page. That confused the census indexers into thinking that his name was James SHERID (SHERWOOD). You might try looking under CASY, CASIE, KASY, KASIE, KASEY, and even KOSEY/KOSY/KOSIE, etc., in case the census indexers couldn't read the handwriting of the census taker very well. Some of the census takers were close to being illiterate themselves. Use your imagination and look under every conceivable spelling that the census taker and the census indexers might have used. You might even find them under CANEY or CORY, etc. As you probably know, you have to become rather creative at times whenever doing genealogy. The poor quality of the census film, the poor handwriting of the census taker, the phonetic spelling by the census takers, the peculiar pronunciations and illiteracy of the people being enumerated, etc., all contributed to the census indexers indexing names the way that they did. Of course, the census indexers at times made mistakes, too. If looking under all the conceivable spellings you can possibly come up with doesn't produce the desired result for you, try looking under the given name as a surname to see if it might be listed that way. It could be, too, that your ancestors were moving when the census was taken and they were missed by the census taker or they may have left the state briefly. You might check ALL surrounding states and also TX. A lot of people would move to another state and then move back to the state they had started from for some reason--perhaps because of elderly parents or other relatives there, etc. The best of luck to you in your search. Thank you for doing this for me! I had not found them on the 1910 census in OK. Not sure when they went to OK, probably after 1902 because he bought land in Newton Co. AR in the early 1900's. Jasper was married 5 times and each time he married either as Jasper, J.A. A.J. Absalom or Absalom Jasper, never the same name twice. 1st wife Martha Bales in MO, 2nd wife Perlima in ?, 3rd wife Martha Jordan in Newton Co. AR, 4th wife M.E. Spurel Newton Co. AR and 5th wife Olley P Hamons in Newton Co. AR. Jasper would have been 18 or 20 in 1860, and he could be listed with any of the above names. I really appreciate the information. I think that their mother may have been Effie BROWN from possibly Douglas County, MO, but I don't know their father's given name(s). I believe that Effie's sister, Fila Ann BROWN, married a distant relative of mine, Noah Alfred LOFTIS, on 02 Aug 1923 at Caney in Ozark County.
