    2. I bet you two think I dropped off the face of the earth. I almost did trying to get ready for this trip. I know that Thomas and Jasper and Lucinda were siblings. I have a picture of Thomas and Jasper together even. Joni, I'm mailing you the Kasinger packet that I've put together. It is mostly from Lucinda's descendants though. I do have her ancestors back several generations though. It is from my own research and from what one cousin gave me of the older generations. I've done a lot of census work on them. I will be in Oklahoma the week of June 16 - 19 and would love if you would e-mail me Jasper's grandson Glen Kasiner's e-mail or send him mine. I'm taking my laptop with me so will be able to check my e-mail often. Also if you could send me the Cemetery name where Thomas is buried in Porter, OK I could probably go there because I'll be in Broken Arrow at my brother's home and that is really close to Porter. What are his two daughter's names? I don't know where Kinta, OK is and couldn't find it on the map I was looking at. Please give me a general idea where that is, please. I'm leaving on the trip on Tuesday, June 4. Marsha Gurr Florida

    1. [MOOZARK] Good resource books
    2. I have found a great deal of information in A History of Ozark County, 1841-1991, put out by the Ozark County Genealogical and Historical Society. It is well worth the cost (about $60 with shipping and handling). Another great resource is the West Plains MO telephone book. I obtained this telephone book through www.mcleodusa.com. The one I have is the West Plains-Mountain Grove edition for the period September 2001/2002. Jean Teebken

    2. Hi Nina and Dave, I was reading through your message again and I realized that I missed answering one your sentences. James William was born in KY around 1825. I know his father Solomon "Monie" had a homestead outside of Poplar Bluff, MO on Ten Mile Creek. Supposedly Solomon "Monie" is buried in the Kirby? Cemetery which was on his neighbors homestead. I have Thomas Kasinger's death certificate if you would like a copy. He is buried in Porter, OK. I think it is Greenlawn Cemetery but I could be wrong. I have a picture of the sign in front of the cemetery. If you would like copies of the gravesites I will sure send them to you. Joni Schildgen

    3. Hello Joni & Marsha: I have been watching your correspondence on Thomas Kasinger. I am a descendent of his sister Emily Kasinger Lewis. Thomas once lived in the Clarkridge area of Baxter Co., not far from the Thacker Cem. There are several Kasinger graves at the Thacker Cem. and among them is Arrainy Harding Kasinger and her grave now has a marker. Some of us put it there a couple of years ago. I show William Kasinger as Arrainy's husband. In none of the census records, nor anything else I have ever seen was he referred to as anything but William. I don't know where the James comes from. My grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Lewis said his grandpa was William "Billy" Kasinger. My grandpa also said that Thomas was his uncle and it is my understanding that Emily referred to him as her brother. I don't know why anyone even questions the parentage of Thomas. I've never seen any data that contradicts it. Mary Kasinger Lincoln and her husband Harry H. Lincoln did a lot of work on the family. In addition, they interviewed everyone they could many years ago for family data. Mary gave me many of her notes before she passed away. She too shows Thomas the son of William and Arrainy Harding Kasinger. Emily Kasinger Lewis, Martha Kasinger Shrum Lewis, who are sisters, are buried at the Conley Cem. in Baxter Co. Lucinda Kasinger Lance is buried at Walker Cem. America Kasinger Biggers is buried at East Oakland Cem. Have to go now. Let me know if I can help you. Nina & Dave

In Mountain Home, AR is where Thomas lived at one point. There is a Cemetery outside of town called the Thacker Cemetery. The only way to find it is by the street sign. There are Kasinger's buried there the only problem is we don't have the first name. They are identified only by the last name. Thomas and Jasper are buried in Oklahoma. For Jasper, could I send your email address to his Grandson Glenn Kasiner? The cemetery is near Kinta, OK and is on a back road. He would take you to the cemetery and show you around the area. I have a picture of Jasper's old homestead which still stands (not in good condition but still there). Thomas is buried in Porter, OK. I have to find the name of the Cemetery for you though. Two of his daughters are buried next to him. As you go into the cemetery he is on the side of the road on the right. Not to far into the cemetery. Do not make any turns. > > I don't have a specific book, just what I've found in my searches plus a > bunch of information that one of my cousins gave me. I'll be glad to share > > it with you. I'd love to get a copy of any pictures you have of the family. There is a book called Kessinger's the Descendants of Solomon I that is written by Phyllis Ratjen and Mary Jo Smith that I have a copy of. They have decided that Thomas was not the son of James William Kasinger. So he is not the brother of Jasper or Lucinda by them. I have a copy of the book. There also is a book written by a couple by the name Lincoln was bought by a cousin. She is updating it with the current information. I will let you know when it is out. I would love any information that you have. I have Thomas Kasinger's death certificate if you would like a copy. My address is Joni Schildgen, 38759 Monterey Dr., Sterling Heights, MI 48312. If you will send me your address I will send you what I have. Thank you, Joni > >

    3. The Jonathan Ela and Rebecca Lourannie Peacock Harper Family lived near Lutie, Ozark County, Missouri. About 1909, they moved near Pontiac, Missouri. The Harper Family moved to Oklahoma in early 1925. Jonathan Ela (the father), Coy (son), and Roy (son) drove teams and wagons through with house hold goods. Fred Martin (daughter Ollie's husband) also came with them. Rebecca Lourannie (the mother), Hubert (son), Lucille (adopted daughter); Lucy Hale Harper (Coy's wife) and her children Herman, Maxine, and Howard; Ollie Harper Martin (daughter) and her children Lorene, Alaska, and Mattie Lee; Alaska Foster Harper (Roy's wife) and her daughter Faye all went by train. They landed in Catoosa, Oklahoma and settled in near Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. 3. Gloria: In a book called "A Reminiscent History of the Ozark Region" on file at the main libarary in Springfield, MO, I found reference to Jane Daniels, daughter of Henry and Harriet Daniels becoming the wife of Alfred J. Dunegan in 1864. My grandmother is Dora Aca Daniel (s) Thompson, the daughter of Henry and Harriet Daniel (s?). After Henry died of a fall off his horse, Harriet married a Rufus Allen and had three more children (a boy and two girls--unknown). The names of the children of Henry and Harriet Daniel (s) are Wiley A., James A., Albert T. (called Bert), then my grandmother Dora Aca. Also there is mention of Minnie E. Daniel a daughter of A. B. Daniel, who married Guy T. Harrison. Minnie(or Nannie) is mentioned in one of my obits as being a cousin of my grandmother Dora. I have been wanting to find some connection to my grandmothers Daniel family for some time now and any assistance in making a connection will be greatly appreciated.
